First Battlefield 4 DLC revealed as a pre-order incentive | News | PC Gamer

Could Battlefield 4 get any more human, dramatic, or believable than it did by using ?Total Eclipse of the Heart? in a gameplay trailer? I know, I didn?t think so either?but they?ve done it again! EA is getting in touch with our soft sides by appealing to our heartrending desire to own all of the DLC, and they?re doing it by offering the first for free. Provided you pre-order, that is.

Little?s been revealed of the first ?sprawling? DLC, China Rising, which is set across four multiplayer maps on the Chinese mainland and offers new vehicles and high-tech military equipment. When pre-ordering Battlefield 4 over at the website, though, you?ll receive China Rising for ?no additional cost? on top of the base game?s $80.

Meanwhile, if you order the Digital Deluxe edition through Origin, you get some bonus unspecified in-game digital items and access to the multiplayer beta in addition to the base game and first DLC.

For the price of Deluxe, it better include the DLC.

I know a lot of people are bummed / thinking that this will be BF 3.5
However, I am actually really excited. This will be my first BF game where I am not late to the scene. As you can tell from my Battlelog stats, I don't have a ton of game time played - mostly due to starting BF3 on the xbox first.

I'm looking forward to BF4 and the DLC with TBG. Should be a lot of fun to start all at the same time.

Little worried about this wording...

If everyone remembers - BF3 pre-orders ($60) were called Digital Deluxe. This included the first expansion pack for free. 90% of players had this. Then after that... BF3/EA goes in for the kill and offers "Premium" edition ($40) and this is to include all the other expansions.

Take a peek at this then continue:http://www.ebgames.com/collection/battlefield-4

Now... BF4 rolls around and guess what... Pre-Orders are being called "Premium Edition" ($60) -- which includes the very first expansion. **sound familiar yet?** GUH-AR-EN-TEE you that this is NOT going to include every expansion for free, that when the 2nd expansion rolls around they will whip out some kind of Platinum Premium version ($40) which will include all the other expansions.

Am I being too skeptical?

Why can't they just offer us the super-duper-mega-all-included package up front?

Shit console ports for double the price of regular games.

I still dont see where anyone is finding these outrageous prices? Serious console games back in 1997 where 45 bucks. If you wanted cheap you could get stupid games for 20 bucks. Account for inflation AAA titles at 60 bucks? Doesn't seem out of line to me :p

The handling of the expansions and preorder does interest me. Digital Deluxe is a normal word for EA for preorder editions. So yeah what do they want Premium to mean this time. Marketing department could be playing tricks.

I'm not talking about 60, that's standard.

It's 60 and then 40 for premium. Not double, but okay, 66% more.

EA: challenge everything. (mostly people's patience in the last 5 years).

I wonder if they will have a Metro style map in there....

You bet your ass that they will have a premium version after the pre order incentive. We fell for it last time and you baruntee the add guys at ea are going to smoking cigars and laughing their ass to the bank

fuck pre-order..maybe when i get home, i ccan get an xmas deal....or valentines day deal...for the base game content...then pay 40 for all the dlc....GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD !! i fucking miss the old patches that BF2 had for content

I'm sorry but im old school and I think you should have every aspect of the game reguardless of if you pre ordered or not.

About as annoying as posting "First!" in a new post. I'll wait a month before I reserve it. Bitching and moaning about it this early is futile. They'll sweeten the deal later.

Your old school? Old school means you have to drive to the store to get the expansion content. So the only argument there is the other perks such as the guns and cammo and titles and all the BS that usually doesn't matter. It does kinda suck to have not been around when the game came out and then find out oh you cant have this or cant get that. The companies tend to respond to that though and make it available later. This in turn pisses off all the preorder people.

Companies are not going to spend millions developing additional content and then give it away for free unless of course its a microtransaction f2p game. Thats a new school gimme gimme trend if you ask me.
