Is there a way I can make fraps record longer than 30 seconds? If I gotta pay for it, it's a no go. I'm looking for something free so, I can record. Does anyone know of anything?

isnt playclaw free? or you can use xfire, though im not sure if there is a time limit on those.

playclaw is better then fraps, just go buy it its like 10$ or go torrent it..

If it works, try then buy lol. I have an issue with the app where it actually drags gpu usage into the toilet and makes my game stutter hard. People have posted the issue in the playclaw forums and it is never even replied to by their staff. Sixer couldn't figure it out. For me happened on ANY setting no matter the compression level. Was recording to the same raid I was using for fraps that normally has to uptake 4GB a minute so with playclaw at certain settings needing much less speed it wasnt the hard drive. Tested on a clean install as well as my daily install.

Fraps's issue is if your getting more fps than your recording it starts to screen tear and at high differences starts to get really shitty and choppy looking. If you can stand vsync than record at 60 and vsync the game you should never have an issue at all. If you cant stand vsync then recording at 60 when your getting under 60 also works. But that takes up alot of drive space, my solution until i figure something else out. I also recommend do NOT use 3.4.7 use 3.4.6.

I wished I knew what the issue with playclaw was because the overlay is awesome. There are more options than these 2 apps as well.

works great for me, ever since i threw in the a second gpu i get no lag while recording bf3.

Thats actually the opposite of what their staff tells people :p. They actually told someone SLI/Crossfire is useless for recording. It can have its issues doesn't mean it usually will.
Im redoing this machine in a few days probably give it another shot then.

SLi/CrossFire hardware is useless for game video recording.
Two video cards in SLI works EXACTLY as only one video card in the case of video recording. Disable SLI and try again and you will see real FPS drop.
Try to set some of graphics settings to Low (for example disable HBAO). Don't forget to restart bf3.
recording = alot of lag!!! - PlayClaw forum :: Game Video Recorder, Ventrilo & Teamspeak overlays

I swear some of their staff.....
