200 is plenty, might be able to snag a 870

If you'd be willing to wait a few weeks I could hook you up with an 970 for 200.

i think ima wait for the rx480. i leave in a week to go to cali for a 10 days so not like ill be playing then another week and the card comes out. im gonna hit up a frys while out there so unless i see a killer deal on something ill probably just wait. but if that changes @DocHolliday ill be sure to let you know

Try the "oven trick" My GTX 465's went out several times. I almost became a master chef because of it. I made once baked cards, then twice baked... up to five times. I did the over trick on them 5 times and they came back great every time. Since your card is no bueno, try cleaning it off and doing the oven trick

Why do i feel like this is the same shit as charging your phone in the microwave

talking with @Iguanidon i think ill wait for the RX480 thats comming out at the end of the month.
I was just about to suggest that as well. It'll be the smartest call for a budget.
A few other options would require willingness to use craigslist. You could snag a 970 or 980 for under 300 and around the $200 range.

But, I think the 480 is a much more wise decision, as it should out preform the 970, and will have more VRAM. Keep in mind, if you want 8GBs of VRAM it's only $50 more (supposedly) and I certainly suggest making that call. VRAM is becoming even more relevant now with higher resolutions and VR. Even if you don't use any of that yet, you can still reap the benefits of a high VRAM card on even a 1080P monitor. A lot of games have 4k texture options, and they look fantastic even in 1080p. I can absolutely recommend this.

EDIT: Careful with the oven trick. It can produce dangerous chemicals left over in your oven. You can bake em' out if you live on the dangerous side, or just use a shitty oven that you can throw away afterwards.

got a friend gonna hook me up with a 6850 for the moment then gonna get the rx480 ive decided
