Has MickeySlop sneaked a tray icon for Windows 10 onto your computer?

This is why I don't automatically install anything but security updates. This is categorized as an optional update so if you didn't have Windows Update configured to automatically install those you wouldn't get it.
 
This was well published on just about any tech news even gaming news site. Prior to even full deployment.

Lol want to place a bet? I've been hearing this since 1995. Software as a service and dumb terminals. Half of you are going to crack the install anyways.

Best thing Adobe ever did was go subscription. Operating system not so much. Photoshop is so much cheaper now :p. can go 5 years on the price of an old copy when new.
 
I had a Microsoft rep come in and show us Windows 10 and he said that's what they're going for. <shrug> It makes sense that they're giving all of the pirated copies amnesty and giving it away free for the first couple of years. Then once everyone is onboard, bam.
 
If I had to place a bet. I'm going to say within 4 years (an expected long life cycle for an OS) of 10s release there will be no forced subscription model in place or even announced. No one cares about optional. All you guys are running for the hills over forced. 10 is here to stay awhile do I'm sure by 10.9 something might have changed.
 
I removed that KB and it's gone. Thanks for the info.
