How to use a secondary mic instead of the built-in one (Laptop)?

There is no "OFF" button for the built-in mic and it doesn't patch over automatically when i plug in another mic
just in case : laptop - MSI GT683DX

this bug is filthy retarded, can't do any voiceovers or commentaries.

this is a question.
 
Right click on the speaker icon on the taskbar go to recording devices, you may see both mic's or the devices the ports are attached to and try disabling the internal.

that seemed like a perfectly logical thing to do, but it's not there.
 
Alright i will hit up the guys that do tech support for a couple companies that resold that model.

Whatbi would recommend is signing up for notebookreview.com and hit up the MSI section guys there should be of help
 
I got it fixed for using just the headset, but can't route a mic through the speakers, the realtek settings are about as stupid and non straight forward as win 7 wifi networking...
