What up!

So I have 2 HTC One M8s from Sprint. Needless to say it was the worst decision I ever made to try sprint out again. They used to be awesome years ago. Anyways I'm wanting to use them on another network and I've been researching a lot, but can't find anything solid. Does anyone have any experience with taking phones from one service provider to another? Ideally with the same phone or provider? Also does anyone know about these sites that sell "unlock codes" and if they're legit or just a scam?

At an initial glance it appears there is only one variant of this base hardware wise. If thats true then it will work on AT&T or T-Mobile. What is the status of your contract? You can try and get them to do an unlock but it is possible for them to do an international unlock leaving you without domestic GSM service. Depends on how much of a dick they are these days. The law is a changing but if you are trying to skip out of the contract and keep the phone thats still theft. While the blacklist for terminated contracts is seperate, all they really have to do is report it stolen and no carrier will take it.

If you wish to go Verizon then toss the phone off a cliff and it will become compatible :p Easiest way to take a phone between providers is to buy a Nexus 5, Nexus 6 or Iphone 6 but there are other phones that are pretty easy especially unlocked. If the M8 is semi universal then you wont be too bad off. But Verizon like sprint whitelist serial numbers. So if it isn't Apple or a Google Play bought phone... Even compatible its pretty hard to get on their service. Sprint is easier than Verizon and 90% of the time Sprint wont help you.

The legit unlock sites have access to manufacturer databases as far as I know. They can also call out to friends that work for carriers for further access.

Do you know of a legit site? Also I've had them for about 3 months. I haven't had solid service longer then 2 weeks with out having to call them for something. I'm past the return time obviously. I tried to ask them for my phone to be unlocked since they do this after 90 days of service, but from what I've read that doesn't mean shit because it's not "Full" unlock. the MEIDs are clear/clean.

Well easiest way to test the unlock Is to pick up a prepaid sim from say T-Mobile and throw 3 dollars on it. To do a proper test it would require being in an area with full service. You will only get 2g if its either partly Incompatible or not a domestic unlock. AT&Ts 3G might work in the same scenario.

I haven't used any sites but I know good ones exist. My best advice when calling Sprint is to never mention your service issue and tell them you will be traveling to Canada for work or training. Tell them you will be using WIND. If they have an option between levels of unlock this would more likely force the domestic since WIND uses T-Mobile frequencies that aren't usually supported globally. However I don't know that will do any good. I only found out a few days ago the few phones Sprint has that support GSM were limited as far as domestic unlocking. When it comes to Verizon unlocking its the limitations of the hardware rather than just being dickheads. A Galaxy S3 from Verizon can't use domestic GSM very well but the S4 can for example.

Hopefully a soldier or someone here knows of a good place. I'm gonna do some research later as I'm curious.

Yea, I bought a SIM from T mobile and it should be here today. Just wanted some insight prior to it arriving. Thanks for the help and I'll post back later with my findings.

from my experience the sim card swap wont work unless unlocked. here net10 and att use the same towers but when tried to put att sim card into net10 phone it wouldn't recognize the sim. and I think sprint for the most part doesn't run on gsm towers which is what tmobile bounces off.

Your experience is a bit warped. Net10 is Tracphone and TracPhone doesn't like you. They are an anti consumer company to the core. Generally speaking you can't sim swap their devices period. The phone is locked not just to that carrier but the sim in it itself.

To go further blitz while I haven't tried backwards you can for example stick a metropcs sim in a T-Mobile phone. Its locked to TMobile. Never tried the reverse but Metro requires you to sim pair and T-Mobile doesn't.

Generally you can also stick a BYOD sim from straight talk to the carrier phone of your choice as long as its the same carrier.

never said I knew what I was talking about just the experience I had trying to do this hope he gets it figured out cause I know those weren't cheap phones. but while im here @RainMotorsports know anything about getting a htc1 think its the m7, to turn back on the g/f battery died at work we plugged it in no LED to indicate charge or anything tried holding the buttons like I researched on google but still wont power up or act like it wants to take a charge any ideas?

Fun fun. No clue. Waiting for that kind of shit to happen with my Nexus since you can't take the battery out.

Power + Vol Down is the bootloader trigger on most Samsung and Nexus devices. I'd try that with the power cable plugged in but... Eek

yeah I held those damn buttons for 20 min the other morning and not a damn thing. shes already got another phone but she hates it and has lots of pics of her kids on the HTC she never put on the pc and wants to get them. I keep looking but everyone says the same shit ive tried time and time again

@BlitZ003 Try using a different charging cord. I know mine went to shit on both of my M8s and they wouldn't even charge. I bought a new USB/Mini USB and all was good. It got worn out where it connects to the phone.

I have great service here and have been very happy with sprint. Do you have bad service everywhere or just in your home? If it is in your home they will send you a free airwave that you can plug into your internet and give you great home coverage.

ive tried all the cords in the house 2 on usb from pc plugged some into the wall and still nothing it maybe a loss and shes starting to cope with it but I still hear about it
