So. I've had two catastrophic failure crashes with Windows 10 since I installed it. I mean hard crashes where I'd get to the desktop but nothing would respond when clicked on, keyboard failed to respond, etc. Seriously hard crashes. Luckily, I burned a Windows 10 repair disc long ago and was able to recover my system both times. (it happened again today). Recovery by system restore point failed both times but system image recovery succeeded. I keep a system image backup on my 4TB WD USB3 "My Book" backup drive. Thank goodness!

Both hard crashes have occurred after use of CCLEANER. I decided to Google whether crashes and use of CCleaner are related and found the following article. YMMV...but for me it's GONE AND UNINSTALLED.

Now I'm back to packing my bags for a trip tomorrow. I haven't been in-game much this month but will be back strong in December.

YEA.... CCleaner and Microsoft don't like each other, nothing after Win XP is truely compatable. Win 7 is a 50/50 crap shoot depending on version installed.

There has been rumors floating around on some pc modding forums that Microsoft has now put in "trap" registry entries that will be flagged by programs like CC and will essentially brick the system. Microsoft is just giving more proof how much of assholes they are.

Wow! i'm glad you posted this issue. I did a clean install of windows 10 about a month ago. I had CC cleaner with windows 8.1...I won't be reinstalling that program! THANKS!

Piriform in general has been going downhill.

Recuva for example has serious issues on windows 10.

I'm in the middle a reinstall flurry right now too. fucking Saitek and their fucking driverwank. Going to avoid CCleaner like the rest, good post.

Win 10 here and Crap Cleaner, no issues (with pretty much all the boxes ticked)

Never any issues. I also can download the a clean install at any time so no big deal. You shouldn't have any critical data on your desktop alone.
