Guess who is back from 13 weeks of hell with an EGA in hand! I will try and put up my dress blue picture a bit later.

On another note, if someone wouldn't mind catching me up on the PC hardware world, I just happen to notice GTX900 series is out and MSI has a R9 290X Lightning edition for $300? And 295x2's are ~$700?

I'm trying not to blow a lot of money on a new GPU since I am leaving for SOI in 30 days, and will be gone for 2 more months, but I would like to upgrade from my HD7950.

Welcome back and glad you enjoyed yourself! I'd hold out on buying anything now unless you HAD to have it, because A. You're gonna be fuck-all busy and subsequently have no time to enjoy it and B. Buy the time you will be at your first duty station with time to enjoy it, the more betterer stuff will be out. Welcome back either way!

Perfectly fine with waiting. I'm try to not be like all the other new Marines and blow all my boot money(or what is left after paying for all my gear) on random crap on leave.

...why are you paying for 'all your gear'? That seems rather odd. And blowing all your basic $$$ isn't limited to the Marines, just drive by any (Army/Navy/Air Force/Marine) dorm parking lot and check out the cars. Be one of the smart ones! Pocket that shit until you settle down at your first base at least, then blow it on condoms and computer hardware :)
 
Had to pay for some of our clothing and other stuff used in the squad bay. Not exactly sure but it was a couple thousand.

WHAT!?!?!? Unless things have changed in a BIG FUCKING WAY, no way no how should you have paid anything, zero zilch nada. What the hell?
 
Well, they take about $300 off in the beginning for stuff like your go fasters and hygiene stuff they give you. Big bag of stuff. Then you spend a fee hundred at the PX over the time you are there. Plus recruit photos and stuff like that. I didn't spend too much on that stuff. Some money comes out for savings plans at the bank and what not. Then I think the mentioned money is automatically taken out of your paycheck for certain clothing stuff. All your dress uniforms/ service I think
 
Welcome back, Marine! Semper Fi, brother - they take that clothing allowance out because nothing is for free in the Corps. Glad you made it!
 
I guess...but most of us probably spent less than $100 in boot, that's just crazy lol $2000 is nuts
 
The only gear you keep is what you payed for. Uniforms and shit of that nature. Basically wall locker and foot locket stuff.
 
Welcome back Bot. Glad you're still in one piece. As far as spending money I would wait a bit. I know its tough to not spend it though.
