Nah no turning back. This all comes from the second biggest Windows 8 hater out there. I haven't used 8 outside of a virtual machine so 8.1 has some pleasant surprises regarding multimonitor and other options. The option to boot to the desktop instead of "Start" appears to be in the taskbar options. In this same menu there are many options regarding how mouse gestures in the corners are handled.

By default the full taskbar shows up on both monitors. You can disable that or you can set it to show all apps on the main screen and only apps open on the alternate screen. I like that when i go to start or am in a Metro app that my instance of chrome watching hulu or Netflix on my second monitor is not disrupted and interacting with the desktop screen doesn't affect the metro screen. What doesn't work as well is trying to hit a corner of the screen for a windows function it doesn't work so well since I go to the next monitor. However its not terrible.

I haven't used an RT device but if they are as baren as the desktop version I would like to know what they are doing for things like file management. Pretty much anything settings or file management wise is likely to sent you back to the desktop.

I will miss aero. No real reason to have cut out the code for the window but leave it in the taskbar. I mean sure better performance but the solidish color is worse than using windows classic to me.

WEI is officialy stripped apparently but not 100% gone. It can be run from the command line:
Code:
systemscore 5.9
memoryscore 7.9
cpuscore 7.9
cpusubaggscore 7.9
videoencodescore 8
graphicsscore 8.3
dx9subscore 8.3
dx10subscore 0
gamingscore 8.3
stddefplaybackscore TRUE
highdefplaybackscore TRUE
diskscore 5.9
Ran this while I was doing things but really didnt seem to change the expected outcome. Need an SSD to win :p
