iPhone 5 smokes the competition as usual. :)

Ok this is why I made this post to get some feedback. So some tell me what phone I should get then because I'm willing to change. I had a cell phone with Android and I hated it because I did not like the the set up and I felt it was complicated to get around and was not user friendly at all. I think it was the HTC Inspire or something like that.

Is there more than one version of the Galaxy S3. If so what do I look for?

Well the GS4 will be out this summer, and all the GS3's are pretty much the same except for carrier specific bloat. The real difference is 4g coverage. I have att because there are 4g towers from them all around me -- hell, my phone just pulled 30mb down and 8 up. Again, if you are wed to Apple keep it -- the iphone is a very good device and the 1phone5 screen is large enough for most. The Android phones take more time to really get to know but that is because you have far greater freedom to do what you like with them, but there are also countless sites with tutorials on them. Go play with the phones. Personally, I think the windows 8 phones have the coolest interface. Just play with them, and go with what you think feels good.

Looks like it would be better to stay with the S3 for less $$$ and its already got the bugs worked out. After reading the link on the S4 I would be nervous going that route.

One of the things I was going to mention performance wise Duke is about the GNex and S3.

The US S3 ended up with a dual core cpu instead of a quad that the international got. The Galaxy Nexus has an older Exynos Dual core (1.2 Ghz?) Anyways the S3 in the US has a Snap Dragon S4. Per Ghz it is faster than the older Exynos 4. Its by no means a miracle but its faster and clocked faster period. In addition to the quad core Snapdragon S4's now available there is the Exynos 5 which is coming soon. They call it an 8 core. Its 4 A15 cores and 4 A7 cores, it uses 4 at a time the A7's consume less power the A15's are epic performance.

Even though the US got screwed on a Quad Core S3 the Snapdragon S4 Dual we did get out performs the Gnex.

As far as HTC some people like Sense UI some don't. Android can be interesting at times. The OS has been overhauled a couple of times recently both for good and bad.

WTF, I'm still rocking a DroidX from 2010! Never replaced the battery either....Guess I'm just lucky but I haven't had one issue and it does everything I need including getting my ass from Pittsburgh International to Irwin PA using the GPS today.

I traded that in for a Razr HD. I still have the DroidX as backup and that was a great solid phone. The new razr is pretty sweet. It was between that or the G3 however I liked the build quality a little more on the Motorola. All I know is the phones are getting fast with many cores. My battery life is pretty good on the new phone. The battery is still the biggest issue on most of the new phones.

This may be the deciding factor for me:

Moving on, all Apple iPhone 5 versions have LTE connectivity, while not all Galaxy S IIIs do. If that's important to you, you should make sure you're buying the LTE-enabled version of the Galaxy S III (model number I9305).

As for
battery life, the iPhone 5 has the clear advantage when browsing the web. It can last 3 and a half hours longer than the Galaxy S III, so if you spend a lot of time surfing the net on your phone, you might appreciate battery life more than the extra screen size that the S III offers (or carry a spare battery for the droid).

I thought this was an informative comparison between the two:

Every brand name carrier has the LTE version. I'd hope one would look at the details before pointing and saying I want that one.

I think I do remember someone posting in the CM10 thread they get better battery life on their sprint GS2 than their GS3 my GS2 goes between 4 and 50 hours. It can at times be down right quick about dying. But at least I can swap batteries.

If you want battery life the RAZR MAXX 16 hours of talk time 11 to 16 hours screen on. IPhone can't touch it but I won't touch moto myself due to locked boot loaders.

razr maxx is 26 hrs, the normal razr that i have is 17.5 hrs talk time, can survive nearly 3 days of intense usage

Id like to know what you define as intense usage. I would define it as 4G remote into a server 100% brightness screen never turning off. As that describes an 8 hour day for me. I can pick up and kill any smartphone I have ever seen with a 2,000 mah battery or smaller in 6 hours.

The MAXX i believe was proven to be useful for 4G streaming video around what 11.5 hours straight? That was the original of course not the newer HD. The problem with voice communications is not that it itself takes alot of power, because screen being off helps a ton. But that the phone being wake locked usually is the second biggest power drain. Just idle awake time can suck a battery down in a few hours. Usually when the screen turns off and your not in a call the phone goes into a deep sleep.

i own a 4s.... im sticking with iphones due to the intergration with itunes match my apple tv and the cloud..... i am going to upgrade but im waiting for a new iphone since i cant upgrade till august anyway.

My S3 was rooted the day I got it. I'm on JellyBam 6.3 or some shit...a custom ROM based on 4.2.2

I am addicted to testing out these Roms. I could not see myself going back to apple.
