Laptop/tablet for sis

hey guys my sis is going back to college and needs a laptop/tablet for school because her iPad isn't doing the job. She needs something small enough to carry around but won't die in a month.

Two options I was looking for her, surface pro2 or asus chromebook. I'm not familiar in this area so If anyone has suggestions or opinions please say so.

Man, that was fast. Seriously, The Surface Pro 2 will run office. I have heard of issues being able to do some things on Chrome books. My exchange student has one for school and he is not overly impressed.
