and new mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131877

and getting windows 8.1. i have no heating issues atm but if yall have some recommendations on a radiator for the cpu would be great ive never messed with them before.

rest of specs Radeon hd7970 factory overclocked 16gig gskill ram 1000W psu cougar more fans than i can count and a well graffitied case wall. also all i found on newegg was the OEM windows which gives me an install but not sure the downsides of it

Are you looking @ a all in one cooler or a watercooling loop?

oem when it comes to a operating system really means nothing.. you may have to do a fresh clean install if you use the disk

so in doing more looking around at MOBOs i have no plans to run more than one GPU so is the board i linked over kill? would i be ok just getting http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873
same board im running now only mines the first edition. im keeping the fx-4100 and board together i have now so i dont have to fuck with the paste cause its going right into a build for the g/f she says she wants to possibly start playing so yeah im all for that. just seeing if the mobo is gonna make that much of a difference

Great choice on the CPU. Works great at stock speeds for a few of my friends.
Regarding the motherboard, might as well get a 990 chipset at this point - I suspect you won't need to upgrade again for 2-3 years. You are out in MO right? I'm in the KC area and we have a micro center here. Might be able to help you out on one of their cpu/mobo combos if the deal is right.

yeah im up in NWMO a lil town called albany. bout 2 hours north of ya. im guessing like all places in store probly has diff deals than on the website. im for sure dead set on the CPU the mobo im still open to suggestions but as you said getting the 990 is probably the best bet. and knowing my luck the moment i dont ill some how come into some money and want the dual cards and all that fun shit

I don't aim to hijack, but am looking at a MB/CPU upgrade as well in the near future. Isn't the primary difference between i5 and i7, the additional cores for hyperthreading? ELI5 (explain like I'm 5) definition please.

Hey Blitz. You are actually looking at the CPU that I just purchashed back in Jan. It is a GREAT processor, I love it. My computer runs flawlessly. However, I would reccommend against the Asus MOBO.

For cheaper and in my opinion better, grab this one from Gigabyte: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514 Its only $127 and has a $10 rebate. The Dual BIOS that comes with it as well is a great feature as well.

Also I would reccommmend to get a water cooler for the CPU. If this can fit into your computer case, this is the system that I got. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106220

Also all OEM means is that copy of Windows can only be active on one computer. If you were to try to put it onto a second computer the the first one's windows would deactivate.

=======
TL/DR

Great CPU choice, I have it and love it
This MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514
This Water Cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106220

OEM means one time use of CD Key (one active)

right on ty kokuei yeah i was also looking at radiators and my case can house this just fine. coolmaster haf 912. ill check out that mobo give it a run. im just one of those guys that finds what run good and holds true to what i look for sometimes kinda hard to step outta the box but if its the combo a fellow pc builder would recommend i could give it a whirl. and with the OS the disk will still work for repairs and reformatting if needed on the PC that its activated on correct?
