I have never heard of the brand personally. I usually shop APC or CyberPower. None of the ones carried locally have the one feature I desire though may not be necessary. I don't have a ton of experience running UPS's but I do have a ton of experience running computers off batteries in remote locations. Some power supplies don't deal with modified sine wave inverters very well which is the most common inverter you will find in a UPS. Pure sine wave inverters and UPS units with them cost more money so if its not needed then save the cash. That company lists their inverter as a PWM sine wave which is somewhere in the middle of modified and pure.

When people complain their new UPS isn't working right I tell them to try one test. Find something analog that consumes about as much power as the PC does at idle. Unplug the charged UPS and run said device if it works fine then try the same thing with the PC. If the PC cuts off the moment the UPS goes into battery the PSU and the Inverter are not in agreement. Its just the most sensitive of Active PFC power supplies. My laptop runs fine on a modified sine wave inverter but the power brick buzzes like a motherfucker.

As someone who has bought MANY UPC's (my latest uses the same LCD panel as the one you are looking at) let me say as clearly as I can not to spend a bunch of money on a UPC. They are ALL pieces of shit regardless of brand or price and they WILL take a shit on you faster than your computer would without one. It's good to have black/brown out protection but know that whatever backup you get is going to be a piece of shit with a fraction of the battery time it claims. It's almost like they are programmed to go bad, even replacing the battery in them won't help.

Have to disagree with you here. I've had my pc damaged by not having one, even while using a surge protector. The CyberPower ones work well and for years.

I agree some companies don't make them for shit, but some do and I stick with them because it costs way more to replace my MB or my system than it does to get a backup in place for brownouts, blackouts, lightning strikes, etc. Who needs the hassle?

Besides, I look at it this way, what saves me more time-having a reliable UPS in place or replacing my whole damn PC.

Well mac did remind me of one use that will kill a battery quick. A UPS serves 2 purposes. On the day to day in some areas its there to mellow out a bad power connection. Its also there to allow proper equipment shut down in a power outage.

If you have alot of power outages and try to actually get that 30 or so minutes of whatever power out of it you are going to ruin the battery fairly quickly assuming you have frequent outages. Many fast foot restaurants have UPS backups on their registers. For what reason I do not know. However alot of them chew up batteries because the registers are on 24 hours and when the power goes out during closed hours they drain the batteries all the way down because no one is there to turn them off and they are not running software that connects to the UPS. Pro tip is a UPS is not a dedicated battery so dont use it like one.

yea, I was more along the lines going to use it as a means to safely shut down my machine. Dont plan on running shit off battery for more than a couple minutes or so, TOPS. thanks for all the input. Glad we have some hardware buffs=D!

I'm with Sixer. My CyberPower ones have lasted years whereas my APC die relatively quickly. I now have four in my house ranging from small, entry level for my kids to a really sweet one for my wife's office, with mine closer to my wife's. It is great for level power and shutting things down when the power craps out, as well as running my wifi for hours when things get real shitty.
