Acer launches the worlds first 27-inch, 120hz, NVIDIA 3D Vision-compatible monitor

.
Acer have hit the market first with a 27-inch, Full-HD, 3D Display. Dubbed the Acer HN274H, Acer have specced it well, Full HD, 100, 000, 000:1 contrast ratio, LED-backlit, 120hz refresh rate and a 2ms response time is not too shabby at all. Yes it's not an IPS-based panel, but for the fast-motion, first-person shooter fans like myself, the 120hz gives you a semi. If that doesn't get the blood pumping, it is also (and obviously) capable of 3D with NVIDIA's 3D Vision technology.

Better yet, the Acer HN274H has the IR emitter built-in! Acer are even throwing in a pair of NVIDIA 3D glasses too. Acer have also added their eColor and Adaptive Contrast Management technologies which work dynamically to (apparently) deliver ultra-sharp and realistic visuals, here I was thinking that was the GPU doing that. The monitor looks great and I would definitely love to try one of these puppies out, Acer. Might be upgrade time for my Surround Vision Alienware setup!

Actually, I see that Asus and Samsung have both announced upcoming 27" 120hz monitors so it will be interesting to see which one is better.

I was going to post about this. :( I have been eying them, but I am weary of Acer. Have not talked to anyone with an Asus Monitor yet, but I was looking at them. Samsung has been at it quite a while now and I have seen some impressive monitors from them.

Yeah, I'd be much more inclined to get the Samsung one if it ever shows up. LG, I won't even consider for 3d desktop monitors though I love their TVs.

I have an Acer monitor now and am very happy with it, Asus, I'm not sure about either but I guess we'll see.

I have one of each and they both work great. The Asus is only a little 15" one that I used for TS3/Vent but it looks good. It's not 3D or a 120Hz but I haven't found that money tree yet either.

why not a tv ?

Realistically, 27" is as big as I want for gaming and my PC and I have never seen what a games look like hooked up to a TV, but my best guess is there'd be lag and ghosting that's not evident on the desktop monitors that have true 120hz technology and not simulated "stereoscopic" bullshit-still 60hz.

ive been playin on 32'' sony bravia tv for quite a while and its ok, no weird things happening, at all, its very responsive no lag no nothing. the only thing is that u always need a bad ass video card to fill that 1920*1080 display. now i have a gtx460 768Mb i can play bad company 2 on high at 1920*1080 but it wont take the most advanced settings and vsync blows it.

but yes ive been considering selling it and buying a smaller one maybe a 27'' monitor only.

Problem with many TV's at 27" are that they are usually 1366 x 768. Have to find a full HD to get past that. I currently have a Viewsonic 27", but it is 5 or 6 years old and that is the native res. I love it, but hate it for the low res.
