I'm looking to pick up a new monitor, I'm running on a 21" BenQ LED, max res. of 1600x900 and 60hz.

I was looking at some 120hz monitors, anyone use them and are they worth it? I have a hard time tracking people when turning sometimes.
I'd like to spend under $300 if possible and am wondering what y'all are using.

As long as it supports 1080P and is 23" or bigger I'll be happy. It sucks though, everything right now runs beautiful at 1600x900 on my i5@4400 and GTX 660Ti. I wonder how much FPS I'll lose when I step up the res though. :blackeye:

Whats the ms of response time on your BenQ? I would recommend getting a monitor with 4 ms response time or less. I haven't used a 120mhz monitor, but I do have two Asus monitors that both work fantastic for gaming. I'm an Asus guy all the way, they have never let me down monitor or motherboard wise. Hope this is helpful.

I've used a 37" 1080p TV as a monitor for about 3 years now, will probably never go back to smaller. The bigger pixels don't bother me at all and gaming is superb.

Hey Matthew, ncix has quite a few 27" monitors for under $300. Tigerdirect has a half decent 27" for $249. They are all 1920x1080.
I use a 28" 1900x1200 they I got from tigerdirect a few years ago for $300. The larger the monitor size/rez the better the view. I prefer one big one over 2 smaller montiors.

If you're buying multiple monitors, buy 3.

I haven't seen a game where you could effectively use two except maybe supreme commander. Unless you like staring at and aiming with the bezel...

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I like that 24" BENQ 120hz monitor. Now the question is, 24" 120hz monitor, or a bigger 27" monitor at 60hz? Which one will make me actually able to spot and shoot things better? Oh geez, life changing decision to make here!

The benq has a feature that lightens dark areas. Plus, 3DVision is a beautiful gimmick

If you want the benefit of actually being able to display anything over 60 fps the 120hz of course. I wanted a 27 inch but ended up buying a better 24 inch (though I went 60hz).

Larger screen especially at the same resolution and same sitting distance means more head movement and use of peripheral vision. Which can easily make it harder to spot things. But each person has their preference and depending on your desk you may likely adjust your distance based on the monitor without even thinking about it.

I've been running 120hz monitors for a few years now and they are well worth the money for gaming but they aren't as cheap as other monitors so forget getting a 27" for under $300.00 You could get a 24" for about $350 but if money's a main factor get a larger monitor and forget the 120hz.

Just remember that with a new monitor it'll stress your gpu more than the 1600x900 resolution you're running now. What that means is you'll get slower frame rates, though not a huge loss-just something to keep in mind.

get a sony 40" Bravia FHD 3D comp. thank me later.
