So, I'm trying figure out what should pack for clothes. Meaning whats the weather like? Mainly hot? Or is it cold and hot?

I haven't been there but its both. Common sense says bring both. Remeber you can always add layers if you need to. Also it depends what province, time of yet and elevation youre going to be at. Count on the higher regions with high pressure altitude to kick your ass. Also with high PA comes colder temps most always.

I have been there a few times, tell me when you are going, where you are going and I will tell you what to take and prepare for.
Obviously this summer its going to be hot, and when I say hot, 120+ degrees. For the heat I wore a lot of under armor and blackhawk gear.
The cold is a different story, especially in the mountains, get gortex, merrel shoes, thermal underwear, beanies gloves and hand warmers.
I don't know if your deploying with the Marines or as a civilian, if as a civi you can have a nice choice of your pic of clothes.

Yah it really depends where you are going. In Kabul, for instance, it's similar weather to New York. Cold snowy winters and warm summers. Go down to Jalalabad on the other hand(havnt been there myself) and it's more of a desert.
Heres one little trick I came up with though to keep you warm on cold windy days. Instead of using the ECWCS Windbreaker when youre in the turret and its winter, go with the wet weather top. The windbreaker is useless for breaking wind(stop laughing) although its real ne to wear in lieu of your ACU top. It feels nice on the nipples:D
If you can get a couple of the combat shirts though..theyre amazing. Just take good care of them because they tear easily.

Aruturo - Thanks man, Yep I am hired by ITT to work as a contractor over there.

And I wish I knew where I was going, I won't know until I arrive in country. it's basically a placement upon arrival. The worst part is that I'm limited to 50 pounds to my ONE bag that I can bring. Not to say that I can't have some things mailed to me, but who knows how long it would take. And supra, the hottest I've felt was 153 degree index in Camp victory south by the Saudi border. That place is fucking hot as hell there. I have various hot weather gear, so I'm prepared for that, and what sucks is most of my cold weather gear is from when I was in the Army, which I was told I'm not allowed to bring. With a limited budget before I leave, I think I'm just going to to have to layer myself like LEX said.

Thanks guys, This time next week I'll be in Ft. Benning at CRC. ( yay)

Pack boxes beforehand and label them A box, b box, C box and so on. Have a full inventory of each box with you so you can just tell people back home which box to ship and when. Like, all your major cold weather shit have sent over 3 weeks before winter is gonna hit and such.

superglue

never been to Afghanistan, but superglue can work for blisters, cuts and everything else, you can never go wrong with a bottle.

LOL, that's a standard, used that in basic training too. My Dad learned that one in the marines.

lots of PORN like 2TB worth. That should do. Plus lotion...... forget all that gortex shit..

you should call me when you get to benning.. maybe we can meet half way and have lunch if you are not to busy

Lol, I wish I could bring that. That's #3 on list of things to get fired for. Lol
#1 is alcohol.

Are you serious? You are not going to get fired for that shit man. You have your own tailor. What you do on your personal time is yours. Don't make me laugh. Alcohol is something different because you run into international trafficking but you will be able to buy it in country. But NO ONE is going to fire you for porn unless you tape pictures to yourself and run around downtown causing an international incident. Plus how are they going to search the hard drive of your lap top. You know how long that would take to do everyone coming into country. The war would be over by then. Its kind of like that whole no alcohol in state parks where you fish and camp. Its a rule but just as long as you are not raising HOLY HELL and howling at the moon it is not enforced. get it

Technically it falls in trafficking as well but, so long as you don't cause a stir, I don't think anything will happen.

Please, share the list of what's "banned". I'm curious what #2 is.

Ask and you shall recieve. Now I just need to dig it up, I'll have in the morning. Been a long weekend, Celebrated my B-day on saturday, and my Son's today. I'm pooped out.
