Hello, Building a new PC for my brother, he wants to be able to play BF4 at max settings, that is his goal. haha.

Budget of $1200-1500. Thinking of going with I7 4790 intel and as rock mother board not sure yet.

But want suggestions on a video card, there are 100's of choices, a decent one in that $150-300 something range.

Thanks

That's pretty damn impressive if that's what you're using.
I've got a laptop from that series but from 5 years ago, has a 2630QM and 570 inside. I run BF4 at whatever fps i want to, currently capped on 60 due to external monitor limit.

It's still overkill for basically everything I can afford to throw at it.

i like what craig did but i might up the psu and go with a mid tower if he has no plans to up to upgrade like we all do

You could definitely do a 650 PSU and it wouldn't be much more. For Skylake, Kaby Lake, and Pascal you don't need much more wattage unless you're doing liquid or SLI.

I built this a couple years back and it ran BF4 at max.

From what I've read, DDR3 and DDR4 are virtually identical in terms of gaming performance. But the CPU socket type associated with those boards is more important than the RAM type.

As long as the monitor is just 1080p a 970 will be fine but a 1440p or 4k...he'll need more for a gpu. And I'd get a 750w psu. True the new cpu's will use less power, gpu's too, but if you ever want to upgrade....
