Well its about time to get new headphones, I love the ones I have but from being pulled on so much the connections aren't as good as they used to be. I have a steelseries head set with clip on Mic and it sounds great and has worked great until the last week or so. I am thinking about this pair because they look nice and have good reviews from the 3 seconds I spent looking into it. I don't want to spend a lot because things are tight until I get my second vehicle fixed. Opinions on this and other sub $40 headphones?

If I were you, I would see if Sennheiser or Plantronics sells the price that matches your budget. Those two companies make excellent headsets.

these are great, been using these for the past few months, i highly recommend these. Durable design, awesome quality.

I'd say that good-quality headphones with a clip-on microphone (like the little Zalman Zm-Mic1) or desk mic would be better. Brands to keep an eye on include AKG, Audio-Technica, Beyerdynamic, Denon, Sennheiser, and Ultrasone. I've been long considering moving up to better headphones. I have cash but it's not in the budget. A headphone amp first, then better cans.

Those almost look like the headsets I have for my flight simulator stuff but being that I am not a big fan of headsets in general I would prefer something that weighs less and doesn't cover you whole ear.

I use the mic on my new webcam now for Vent and in game voice but despite the fact I don't generally like headsets one pair I have found tolerable to some degree are the Gigaware USB Stereo Headset w/ Microphone. They produce a good sound and are lightweight enough that I can wear them without too much aggravation . You can get them at Radio Shack for $29.99 Gigaware USB Stereo Headset with Microphone : Computer Headsets | RadioShack.com

I have the Carcharias and it fuckin' rocks. Comfortable as all hell and even though it's over-ear, they don't get hot. Music has great bass to it without distorting and the mic is attached - great plus. I don't think I'll use anything else.

I just ordered these headphones last night. They get good reviews across the board. People always say they can't hear me on my current set. Getting mine from Amazon.com though.
