Newegg has a nice hardware combo for sale, plus a rebate

oh god its so expensive.

300 for a cpu, 200 for a motherboard and 100 for ram, seems normal. It's just not that much of a deal. I didn't even look at the actual prices before saying that. But for the most part the motherboard could be had for less at times and we can get CPU's locally that make up for that sort of 35 dollar discount.

I guess it depends on where you live. Shipping and taxes are sometimes a bugger.

I have the Z77 version of that board with the "Tuf Armor". This photo was taken in 2012 after I built my PC. Since then, I've updated the monitor, keyboard, video card and modem/router. I wasn't going for anything flashy - my pc has a fan on the side instead of a window. Considering I've had ZERO problems with this build, I'd be comfortable recommending an Asus board to anyone.

Here's an econo-build I put together for my step son-in-law. It has an i3-4360 in it for now. Also a Sabertooth board - but without the "armor"

I wish I lived in Texas!!!
And I wish I lived in Cali again. I miss so-cal so much. (I graduated from CLU in Thousand Oaks). If I was SMART I would have stayed and purchased some real estate back then. Hindsight is 20/20....
