Has Microsoft finally given up on Internet Explorer?

A new report claims that Microsoft is planning to launch a completely new browser alongside Windows 10, but plans to keep Internet Explorer 11 around for “backward-compatibility’s sake.” Of course, that’s not very reassuring for remaining IE fans.

Many have speculated that Microsoft planned to greatly revamp its flagship web browser in order to better compete with rivals, but the company’s next big browser release, codenamed Spartan, “is not IE 12,” ZDNet reports.

What this browser will actually look like, as well as its final name, remains unknown at this time, but the product could debut at Microsoft’s Windows 10 “consumer experience” event on January 21.

Only because people like to be the exact opposite of fan boys when it comes to internet explorer. If they took you favorite browser, slapped the name IE on it and then made it 100 times faster (more efficient), you still wouldn't use it. Even though reason would tell you that is stupid

well hell just a few months ago I finally got windows 8.1. DAMN YOU TECHNOLOGY. always taking my monies, well not right away ill wait till they release then revamp 10 then get it. on a side note when I switched to 8.1 battlelog started being a dick on Mozilla which was my preferred browser so I played around on different ones found the IE didn't have as many issues so I went back. hopefully they will use IEs main structure just add a few things and a new name. why ppl always gotta mess with something that works and has been working. if they break it im going back to aol and netscape

My mother still keeps a netscape disk in her work drawer ...

(she's a computer scientist, she taught the guys who made skype how to use computers.)
