So just starting today my monitor has suddenly gone dark and get the no signal error. I restarted my pc and everything worked fine for a couple hours then bam screen goes dark. I tried making sure cables are tight and restarted my pc. Again video works just fine then a couple hours later bam screen is black again with same error when I turn off monitor then back on. Is this a GPU problem? I haven't changed any settings or moved my pc and everything worked just fine until today.

my dad's old pc started having that problem. It seemed like it was something to do with his MOBO actually. cause he was using onboard graphics. But even when we tried a brand new seperate gpu it still didnt work. I ended up just building him a new pc cause his was already really old

So it might be mobo...

Not the cable and not a button on the monitor. I think it has to do with the GPU or MOBO :(

Do you have another computer to try the GPU on?

No I don't. The GPU works when I restart but only lasts for 2-4 hours before screen went black and I was forced to reset then video would come back on. I just took my side off my case and the GPU felt loose and I pushed it back into place. Also the little clip on the back for some reason was off. Maybe it came loose while I moved and it made the GPU come a little loose too. I pushed GPU back and put clip back on. I hope that was the issue.

If it was loose then i suggest reseating it entirely. Also something that may be a good step to try to see if it is the mobo is remove the GPU and use the on-board graphics (The VGA or DVI slot on your mobo.)

Then run something on low-med settings and see what happens.

exact problem ive been dealing with myself. first thought it was PSU not giving enough power to the gpu, bought new PSU same shit. using a lower end card I can be on for around 4 -6 hours sometimes and either screen freezes or yes monitor goes to no signal but tower stays on. new GPU will be here Monday however im startng to think after looking into it more that it is in fact the MOBO as the lights on both mouse and keyboard go off as well when the screen looses signal so that would be all the outputs from the MOBO have lost power/connection. ill report back with my findings after new to me and known working GPU gets here and installed. so all ull have to do is spend maybe a lil bit of money. whos ur MOBO manufacture?

Did you check your windows power management settings?

It should be set to high performance and always on or else windows can start turning off video and putting hard drives to sleep to save power. You can find it by typing power management or power plan on your start menu.

Also, since it came loose, I'd turn off the system and remove the video card. When it's cooled off, clean the fans with some compressed air, and re-seat the card and make sure all the connections are nice and tight. Be careful that it's cooled though, hot components don't get along with ice cold air.

Good luck!

It's been on for 3 hours now with no issues. But I will take your advice Joelebroy and turn off my comp when I go run my errands. When I get back I will take my card out and blow it clean and also some other components. I saw a little dust built up but not to bad.

Glad it's working for you so far. Your Nvidia control panel also has a section that controls how long your screen goes before it turns off to save power too, come to think of it. Just another place to check settings if it starts acting up again.

Hope it behaves!
