Im not into politics nor I have an personal opinion about Bloomberg, but in regards to that particular statement , I agree 100%

I believe the minimum legal age to own a gun should be at least 25 , more so with young men. Most people in Colleges are still heavily influenced by their peers and easily manipulated. They are still at an age of discovery and few responsibilities.

@StabemKillerman , in your case, you have a military background, you have been through a rigorous training and discipline process of that which normal everyday people dont get to have.

Honestly, you cannot hold every person to certain standards. This is one of them. It is impossible, I know plenty of college and high school kids I could trust with a firearms and plenty of soldiers and sailors who I generally wouldn't, even after all the training. It is up to the person and their attitude with firearms. Saying that no one should be allow to have guns because you are afraid of them, because they MIGHT hurt you. That is how fascism and fear mongering work. You want a gun, as long as you follow the law and are not crazy, have at it. Just remember the second you fuck up, there will be no leniency.

I don't have a military background and have owned guns since I can remember my first was a .22 by the time I was 16 I had 3 rifles a shotgun and 2 handguns. Now I'm 34 and only have a shotgun but that's because I only hunt birds. Bloomebergs statement is just not well thought out. How many college aged students does he know? How about roughly 3/4 quarteres of our military that carry guns on a daily basis?

I have been around guns , and handling them since I was 12 in summer camp. I am now 39 years old , the hassle of obtaining a firearm within NYC limits are generally atrocious.
I know people who are cops , slash piece officer's in which I still can't believe can lawfully carry. Unfortunately in our society where rich people who make the rules ,literally make them to disarm us for when the proverbial shit hits the fan.

It has everything to do with the person. I know 16 year old's I would trust implicitly with a firearm. I also know cops and soldiers that I don't trust at all to properly handle a firearm.

I got a Red Ryder for my 5th birthday, a Ruger 10/22 for my 10th and a Model 700 for my 16th. Big Green bent me over at 20 and showed me just how many retards are entrusted with firearms in our nation's military. You would think privates would get tired of rifle PT, but NOOOOOO, they love that shit. Fucking NDs every time we go to the range. Brass check failures every time off the line. Really private, you don't have the situational awareness to understand that if you didn't shoot your 300 rounds, it will still be on your person....Mountain Climbers, GO!

"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

what the FUCK are you smoking!? btws in the United States of America.. you sign up for selective service at 18 years old.

Carrying a $50,000+ college education per year is a hell of a responsibility, operating a fucking car, paying your bills, ensuring you show up on time to class to educate yourself if one hell of a responsibility. what delusional planet do you live on.. holy shit.... dude..

Smoking a cigarette and driving a car is more dangerous than owning a gun.

Pretty soon this is going to turn into fucking animal farm!???

that's un-fucking American. Old enough to vote for the future of our country and fight for it's preservation is old enough to old a gun..

I was taught to shoot at 12 years old and given my first gun when I became a man at 13 years old.

we need to stop raising a generation of fucking pussies with no back bone or concept of social responsibility. Our grandfathers and their fathers built Manhattan. The guns aren't the problem. The guns are never the problem. The liberal fucks with attitude of sheltering people with the government are the problem... the politicians are the problem. Not the guns.

Good Lord Papi... don't let people walk all over our rights man.

forgive me I am not mad at you just Shocked you would buy into something like that.

just your opinion your I suppose.

I didn't know the extent of that Quote till I read the comments or Googled it, But anyways..

I dont personally know any one that can afford a college education at 50 Grand a year. Most I knew or know depend on their parents for that or pay it thru their low income jobs. Ensuring you go to class on time?..come on man.

So.. , your another member with a military background influenced by his/her military family. And you signed up for the military and got a your benefits from the GI Bill Education program. Cool.

But Im not. I didn't grow up with with "legal" access to guns like you and several others in this thread, especially so young.

"I was taught to shoot at 12 years old and given my first gun when I became a man at 13 years old."

I dont know of anyone that becomes a man at 13. I had friends that grew up without a father and took the role of the father to help support their family. Whether it was selling drugs or a grocery bagger , I've seen them step up to the plate, but even that doesn't make you a man. The process is more complex then that and it takes time.

we need to stop raising a generation of fucking pussies with no back bone or concept of social responsibility.

I share the same views which why I the comment about how immature people are in general , especially when it come to the responsibility in owning a weapon such as a gun.

And no, Im not offended or take it personally. I respect your opinion.

Selective service is for compulsary military service. Aka the Draft, should the nation need you in a time of war.

You said most young men cannot handle the responsibility of owning a gun below the age of 25 because at a college age they are in an age of discovery and have little responsibilities. That's fucking a crock of bullshit and you know it. "no responsibilities"!? Hardly.

Here's one: You're in College you have a responsibility to get your shit together, earn and education and GRADUATE, and get a Job. don't mock me for saying "go to class" that's right.. get your fucking hippie ass out of your dorm or quad fuck drum circle and march your ass into what ever hundred dollar credit hour of basket weaving liberal science bullshit you signed up for and fulfill you academic requirements. I

The key is Balance. Every man at the age of 18 and over can handle more than you think.

Joining the military did not influence my pro-gun beliefs. Being raised as a patriotic heartland American did. The values of patriotism, Duty for God and Country, and understanding the heavy costs associated with Liberty make influenced who I am today. My experiences have helped harden my resolve and love for this country. I could blabber on about how brutally fucking apathetic and intestinally weak our current young generation is, and how we take our rights for granted but I'll spare you.

Here's the bottom line: Owning a firearm in the United States of America is a fundamental right under our constitution. of which shall NOT be infringed upon. It is American as eating Apple Pie, drinking beer, and watching fireworks on the fourth of July. It's an integral part our American culture, to the extent that it's part of our founding document of law.

The harsh reality of this situation is this: there is an Anti-Gun Agenda out there in our legislative branch....I submit that most of their constituents (who every elected official seems to fucking forget about!) are law abiding citizens who do not want strict infringing gun laws. Politicians are more focused on pushing the interests of their personal agenda rather than representing what their people want. that's my opinion.

What is good for the city of Manhattan may not be good for the rest of the US, or even the state of New York. This country is on a slippery slope, now is not the time to support things that violate your rights under the Constitution as a law abiding citizen.

This new dickhead wants to repeal "stop and frisk" which if you know anything about how NYC's gun laws and how it relates to gang culture, is a HUGE FUCKING MISTAKE. There are going to be a lot more shootings, which is exactly what the mayor, and the anti-gun libs in congress want. So they will have more violence on the streets, and when good people die, the only direction that fingers should be pointing is at Diblasio.

Like I said the previous post , I dont follow politics and I didn't know the extent of that comment made by Bloomberg, just the sentence written in the meme. We live in the same planet but we come from different upbringings and cultures.

Im not against for the right to bear arms in any way, I own a 9mm and a shotgun, I just wrote what I felt because of my experience and what I've seen thru my eyes. In regards to responsibilities, I think your taking out of context to the extreme. Its not like most ..or the least, own a Home..have kids and or ..are married. College shouldn't be the time to "get your shit together " or get a job. People should start getting their shit together during their teen years in High School or start a little before.

The education system in America and many countries needs to be altered.

"So Jimmy , what do you want to be when you grow up"

Jimmy: I want to be a doctor!

Well guess what Jimmy is going through. After Kindergarten, 1st-12th grade every year..English, Math, social studies, science ,ect......repeat.. .English, Math, social studies, science ,ect..repeat .English, Math, social studies, science ,ect..repeat...English, Math, social studies, science ,ect..

The education system basically sets you up for being a factory worker. Before you finish High School , you find out how much money is needed to go to College. What a disappointment. Most give up their dreams before even finishing HS.

So much time and resources wasted, when Kids could be learning at least the principles of their dreams in High School. So many demanding jobs out there, that require lots of training and certification that could easily be taught in HS and Jump Start their future.

Comrade Diblasio is going to turn the clocks back on Manhattan, that city will be circa 1979 in less than ten years guaranteed if they keep him in office. His typical paternalistic liberal mindset has done nothing but destroy and hold down the poorest communities in the biggest cities all across America. As for college costing $50k as Lex said, MANY colleges cost much more. Shit their is a female student at Duke right now who is about to be kicked out of that University because she is paying her $61,000/year tuition by shooting porn videos. I've been saying it since 1990, college is a fucking scam for 90% of Americans and a grossly overpriced one at that. The Marxists who run Universities love to talk about taking advantage of the disadvantaged but they are the single worst offenders on earth, LITERALLY. Today, as in right this second, total student loan debt in the US is higher than all credit card debt in America combined. And half those kids getting degrees and owing $200,000 the day they graduate will not have a career that pays them as much as they could or will make in the trades. Typically a college degree raises your ceiling which a tiny fraction of people will hit hard enough to know it's there, but it also lowers the floor dramatically and many more students will bounce of the floor of economic collapse than will bounce off the ceiling. One of the only debts that you cannot leave behind in bankruptcy is student loans. By the way, the government took over student loans decades ago which is why they will never actually address the criminally ludicrous cost of "higher" education and why that debt cannot be erased by bankruptcy.

Bloomberg is Anti-American. Perhaps he needs to read the Constitution or the Gettysburg Address..you know, little parts of it like by the people for the people...separation of church and state...freedom of speech...the right to bear arms. Because from where I sit he spouts off without any concern for this country or the principles it was based upon.
