With XP,I used to be able to overclock my system with just one simple overclock of the front side bus...from 333 to 400....it turned my e8400 cpu from stock 3.0 ghz to 3.6....now with the upgrade to WIN7...it doesnt allow for it....after doing some investigating.....it sounds like WIN7 has some SERVICE on it that doesnt allow for it...anyone else hear about this???
I suppose with some fiddling with voltages on the CPU i can overclock it that way and not bother with FSB settings....but i'm too lazy.....lol...and my system seems pretty stable with just the STOCK bios settings anyways.

<---fsb overclocks laptop in windows 7 with setfsb all the time.

Windows 7 requires signed drivers especially the kernel ring0 drivers that most program use to do this kind of work. Try other software, look for updates to that software etc.

well I just found some thing on the net referring to Tages protection and i'm using WIN7 64 bit and downloaded some program called TagesSetup_x64.exe......I'm just leary of installing it.

whoa.....upon more investigating this file....it's total crapware...so I guess that takes care of that...
