The processor gurus at AMD have set a new world record for processor frequency: 8.429GHz. The winning setup used an overclocked early model of the next-gen AMD “Bulldozer” FX-8150 processor with a liquid helium and liquid nitrogen cooling setup.
AMD’s new record edged out the previous best of 8.309GHz, set by a single-core Intel Celeron D 352. The scary part: the AMD team was only using 2 of the Bulldozer’s 8 cores.
