Hey guys. Long story short I had to do a complete re-install and I install some of the ASUS software I never used before. Now I keep getting your CPU is hot warnings. Depending on the game I run between 68-82 C. My CPU is a i7-3770k 3.5 GHz. Are these normal temps? I idle at 54 C.

Have you taken a look at your BIOS settings? 82C is kind of high. I would make sure your settings are correct. When I received my i72600k, the factory settings had it boosted to 3.8 when stock it was supposed to be 3.4. Was getting super high temps when playing games due to this. Also, if you are running the stock CPU cooler your CPU came with, I would suggest an upgrade. Even re mounting it sometimes does the trick to get a little more life out of it. Hope this helped a bit.

I had to do that to my old GPUs, it took 10 degrees C out of each card afterwards. They were anything but flat, so the heat had to travel to the outside of the chip cover, then to the heatsink. Sanding it down allowed the heat to go stright through to the heat sink to be dissipated. when its done being sanded by all the different kinds of paper, it should end up like this:
LL

chances are though your settings are just jacked up is all
