Ok, many of you probably own a gun, so give me few suggestions... I'm planning to buy a new pistol low caliber 22LR rounds.

I have the choice to choose between S&W 22A ($240) or Sig Sauer Mosquito (~$340), the Sig is a bit more expensive, however you can't attach scope on there. The S&W 22A is cheaper, and would cost about the same as Sig Sauer with the scope (around $320). So any suggestions?

I am not familiar with the guns you have chosen. Why the 22 as a choice? I have 45's and would like to think that if I have to use it they will not be getting back up. Other than that both brands are quality names. I have fired the Sig 238 and like the feel of it. I do have larger hands and the grips were a little small, but it felt good and was true to aim on the range. Fired a few rounds on a S&W SW1911and found it to be not to my liking. Just did not feel right on firing. Grips were actually nicer on that one than my personal guns, but I was always high right on my shots.

Personally when buying a handgun I recommend going to a store that has a range or some small Mom & Pop stores will actually meet you at a range on certain days and policies. I would not buy a gun off the shelf without first trying it. Are you going to be getting into any competitions or is this more of a PD weapon?

I have a Glock 23 40 cal. Light weight and excellent imo for concealment. I also have a Rueger 9mm but it's too heavy and bulky for concealment. Both will knock you down.

Erm, this gun isn't ment to be used as personal protection, the main reason why i choose 22 is because it's cheap and a good choice to target practice with. I want something that I can shoot with at gun range to improve my aim, and what better gun is there than anything that uses 22? both gun and the ammo are cheap, and there is almost no recoil.

Yes, I have gone to a local gun shop and tried both (not firing them of course), they both feels nice on the hands, and trigger pull isn't that heavy either.

hmm, you could never go wrong with a target grade Luger 22LR, its easy to learn on, and if you want something to improve your aim, there is only so much you can improve on with a .22. once you get good Im sure you can move up to something bigger.

I know Ruger is a good starting pistol, however I just didn't like the design of that gun. and Sid, I'm not going to a war...

Ok Good choice. Don't get too comfortable with the 22 if you will eventually be going bigger later. Totally different than just about any larger caliber handgun I've fired. Recently was able to shoot a 22 AR rifle, which was pretty fun. Although its strange (to me at least) to not have that recoil with an AR.

I have the Walther P22, paddle holster, and 2 extra mags. I love it for target shooting. I use my Ruger GP100 for target practice too but it is a lot more to shoot ~$.70 a shot of 357, on the other hand it shoots 38special also which is only like 0.30 a shot.

Either way, $0.05 a shot for .22 makes it a lot more enjoyable to shoot.

I would go with the S&W.

Here's one with a scope.

Dang all this talk about handguns makes me want to buy another one. I wouldn't mind having a little 22LR pistol myself.

Probably going with this Smith & Wesson 22A .22 LR 7" Black $246.00 SHIPS FREE

Local store carry one of that, it's bang for the bucks, and you get the quality too since S&W isn't like Highpoint... I heard it's also easy to maintain, so that's a plus.

thats a good deal, but sometimes if you know how to work a sale you can usually get free ammo, a case, or even an extra magazine out of the gun store people if you buy local.

Yea, the one I saw is similar to that, however with a 7 inch barrel. I think the gun comes with a carrying case, as for the scope, probably a hollow sight, a scope seems a bit heavy which is not needed.

I can see the value Renno, but to be honest I would not and have not used one on my pistols. I used to shoot IPSC years back and some of the guns in the higher classes were outfitted with them. I shot a few of them, but it just did not do it for me. Today if you go to a competition unless the rules specifically disallow them you will see a scope on every pistol. You'll also see lower caliber much more. I guess that has a lot to do with cost, but like many of them we all reloaded ourselves or had a fellow competitor do it for us. It just makes sense if you shoot that many rounds to reload yourself.

Ok, I've decided on the S&W 22A 7" barrel one... It's not that expensive, and from what I've read online, it's got some good reviews.

See pictures.
I'm going to the target range tommo :)
