Signal is better, dialer is better, and for me Sprint Spark is working pretty nicely.

I am on CyanogenMod so won't see any needed fixes (assuming CM didn't already patch or replace the issues) for awhile. M7 is going to be out in the next couple of days. M6 was the latest release I could run I was on nightlies around M2 that were good. M4+ i have been having the issue where i have to toggle the airplane mode occasionally because data stops and I hear that was happening on official as well but never had it until I was on the newer builds.

I am too lazy to install Xposed and GravityBox because all i need is in there but CM has all that crap i use out of the box as well.

Gone crazy this month too:

CyanogenMod 11 M7 came out a day or so ago. Its still 4.4.2 but its solved my Data issue with M6. For good measure I flashed the modem firmware from the 4.4.3 update. The latest nightlies are 4.4.3 but I can only imagine all the commits from google being moved downstream are going to make for some very bad builds. M8 should be 4.4.3, see how well that goes lol.

Dunno how the other devices are taking it but loving the M7 snapshot on the Nexus 5. Seems stable, data connectivity on startup is immediate where as on M6 it was slow to ever connect to data and so far no issues with it dropping out.

As far as speed goes Doc these days all I get on T-Mobile/MetroPCS is 20 up 20 down, used to get a lot of 40 down runs but here in the city network congestion + reality. Kinda surprised Spark is only getting you 50 down.

Had to reload my OS since the OTA update for 4.4.3 was failing. After that, everything is smooth as silk. Reloaded the dalvik and bionic optimizations for snapdragon and updated the drivers for the graphics chip. Never been happier than with my phone.

Nexus 5? I don't know what the things you just mentioned are. tell me more.

Also Rain, I was inside a big brick building at the time. I'll try it outside when I get a chance.

yeah. just wasn't familiar with the optimization stuff

The optimization stuff is basically updated and compiled drivers for the nexus 5. Does improve the performance a bit but u less you're rooted, you won't be able to install them. Wish they would remove the lockdown on phones and treat them like computers.

Dalvik is the Java virtual machine most apps run in, the Moto X has Dalvik Libraries optimized for the recent Qualcomm SnapDragon SoC's and it was actually doubling Quadrant benchmark scores though the real world results are a bit different. Bionic I believe is related to the Just In Time ART compiler which apps can now run on, CyanogenMod has its own optimizations but on stock people also flash them from the Moto X.

Going quite the opposite. They have absolutely no reason to deliver a product like that to the mass public. Its hard enough getting carriers to carry a phone that has an unlocked bootloader. But Google is likely blocking system partition access on the next version of android even with root you won't be able to, you would have to be on a custom rom or boot into recovery. The enthusiast market can't interfere with them delivering a safe and secure product that major carriers will also actually distribute. Your going to have to turn to the alternative offerings for crap like we do.

I'll check it out when I get home.
