i ve been thinking since i had to buy a usb sound card to be able to play bc2, that i could upgrade my sound system.

so first i looked for some creative products, a creative titanium sound card and headphones, and thought about these ones too:
Amazon.com: Creative Labs 51EF0180AA001 Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset: Electronics
these are usb headphones, but i dunno if it would be the same as having a usb sound card with my regular 3.5 headset.
usb headsets have and integrated soundcard in it ?
i kept researching and found these huge things: the razer megalodon. and i just read good things about them.
so any of u guys have them or have tried them out. because they are like $ 125, almost the same that i would have to invest in a sound card and headphones.
any suggestions ? whats better usb or regular 3.5mm ?

Well, a 3.5mm connection will use your sound card or onboard sound whereas the USB will use its own system that bypasses anything you have installed. Basically, if you have a good sound card or even halfway decent onboard, you're going to want to use a standard connection type headset to take advantage of all the features of the sound card. If you have bad onboard or don't want to pony up for a good sound card, get a USB headset because it will use its own internal sound processor to deliver the sound to you and ignore anything you have installed in your system for sound.

ok so any usb headset will help me avoid the crazy frezzing i get from bc2, accordingly to to what u just explained right ?

That's one way to look at it, the other is your sound will suck ass and you won't hear any details.

acording to the megalodon specs its has an integrated sound card and it can switch from 2.1 to 7.1 with a button ,so i wont miss anything and wont have those problems that many people have with 7.1 headsets.

for music it would be 2.1 and 7.1 for gaming or watching dvds with 7.1 support.

and the thing is that i wouldnt like to invest more money on a 7.1 speaker system, right now i have a 5.1 and i rarely use it.

so buying a new sound card with 3.5mm outputs and 7.1 to take complete advantage of the headphones its not that important to me, now that im sure that any usb headset will work (a different sound card would work too ) --but the plus from the megalodon headset its making me change my mind about usb sound.

thats why i would like to know if any of u has a pair of usb headphones and see if they are worth the try.

I'd sell ya mine if you want. I'm not a big fan. They are the most comfortable headset ive ever used though
