Currently im pretty satisfied with using normal SSDs that have a read and write time of around 500 Mb/s but on alot of forums im reading that these M.2 Pcie NVM SSDs are really nice to have because they read and write at double to tipple those speeds and are excellent for gaming due to extremely short load times. So my question is, is it worth going for? or should i just gather a bunch of Samsung 850 Evo 500gig SSD's and run them in raid 0 or should i just save my money? What would be the real benefit besides load times before the game if i decided to go this route? @sixer9682

M.2 PCIE
Samsung 850 Evo

Hopefully the compatibility issues have been resolved. I stuck one in my MB last Dec. and couldn't get my system to recognize it.I am short on patience and went back to a regular SSD.

Well im sure that would depend alot on the type of m.2 and your mother board

From the reviews I've seen they are great for everything but gaming, taking much longer than ssds to load games.

Edit: scratch that, I looked at M2 in the thread and ignored the PCIE. So yes, the PCIE would load games faster as well as do everything else faster. From the reviews I've read there's less than a 1% frame rated difference in gaming with this storage also.

Good deal if you can find one for a decent price.

yea the sata m.2's are meh and are exactly the same as a regular sata in terms of read and write speed. But the m.2's that use pcie run super fast. It would be nice for BF4 even i think though because with my current ssd (linked above) can load the game in 37 seconds (from clicking the join button to being able to spawn). id imagine a raid 0 or one of those m.2 pcie would be able to do it in 10 or so seconds. but yea that's the trick finding one at a decent price :/

i have one as my primary drive and i have no issues with it at all and it's fricken fast as shit (i hope all the technical terms didn't confuse anyone)
