All treaties require ratification by 2/3 of the US Senate before we can become signatories, and there is absolutely zero chance of that happening, particularly in an election year. This has been a second amendment topic since the mid 90's when the other famous Clinton politician tried everything in his power to dismantle the second amendment with some success.

I don't even own a gun but my first thought is fuck you to anyone who wants to take them or give out information about gun owners to other countries. Guess what? This is America and our viewpoint is different than a lot of other countries for a lot of reasons. Any American who thinks US citizens' rights should be overseen by the UN is guilty of treason as far as I'm concerned.

Um..... breach in host nation sovereignty/unconstitutional anyone? I'd love to see the US courts agree to support a UN case against innocent American citizens.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but freaking out over this isn't necessary. For one, this treaty hasn't even been drafted yet. The topic of a small arms treaty is being discussed in a confrence currently. More importantly the conference has NOTHING to do with the purchasing of arms within the United States. It's sole purpose is to combat international illicit trade of small arms, mainly by setting internationsl standards for the import and export of conventional weapons, and tightening regulation of those standards. This also won't affect anything we would normally give to our allies because this arms treaty would only affect illicit trade.

It is also IMPOSSIBLE for any international treaty to be held above the US constitution, as per a supreme court decision in 1957, so your right to bare arms is not in danger in any way shape or form. No matter what is signed by the UN.

I am completely for the constitution. I don't understand how they can just write up a bill that circumvents the 2nd amendment. Fucking Ronald Reagan would of wiped his ass with this crap. Bill Clinton would of set it on fire and put it out with his piss. What the hell is wrong with Obama? And I can't believe Hiliary Clinton is backing this shit either....

I hope I am understanding this correctly....
