The BLS released it's September jobs report this morning shocking the experts by showing the unemployment rate falling to 7.8%, the first time it has fallen below 8% in 43 months and matching the rate when President Obama took office. Experts are expecting the number to be revised back up to 8% after reviewing the data in the report which shows only 114k jobs created for the month of September, 10k in the public sector. The report relied on a survey that many experts consider "volatile", which showed a massive increase in the number of work from home, self employed and independent contractors. It also showed that the labor force rate rose from 63.5% (a 35 year low) to 63.6%. On average in 2012 145k jobs have been created each month. A very interesting jobs report at a very interesting time, there will definitely be more news on this in the coming days.

I am actually curious to know what the margin of error is though also.

My number one priority is bring home ALL the troops, I have a feeling that unemployment will skyrocket once the military non-career designated individuals hit the stats charts.

The rate will go down temporarily because of holiday season. It will go back up in February.

I agree... there will be little jobs available for our troops and that is just unacceptable.

I agree with you guys, the vets will have a tough time eventhough they are reliable and proven workers. I love how I left the USMC after 10 years to go back to college, but could not get unemployment because I "voluntarily left the service". All I had for college was the old VEAP. A former student of mine got out of the Air Force with a General under Honorable Conditions (prescription drug dependent!) and he gets fucking unemployment AND his college funds AND VA health bennies! WTF?

Hmm, I don't find that fair at all. Even our vets are getting screwed over. No jobs when they come home, and no benefits either? Rude, just rude.

There are a lot of separations programs, but they don't create jobs they just help you make the transition to the civilian sector.

Not sure why you guys think their coming home. I believe there going to be going somewhere else real soon.

I am tired of the US fighting other peoples battles. Our economy hurting, get us back to "stable" before we fight another countries battles. If another country wants to go to war, then let them fight it.

As predicted the unemployment number is about to go up, a state (California apparently) "forgot" to include a pile of unprocessed unemployment claims expected to be around 30,000 claims, or 9% of the claims published in the September jobs report. This could easily push the entirely fabricated 7.8% unemployment number right back up to 8%. MMMMMMMM I smell transparency, oh wait nevermind that's a steaming pile of bull shit I smell.
