The problem with "Smart TV's" are they just get obsoleted. One day the company says were not going to update it anymore and sooner or later 1, 2, 3 or more apps are too old to work with their services. It will be great for the first 1 to 3 years of ownership but one day your going to be plugging your ChromeCast 7.0 in to make up the difference. A lot of people there is a chance they will replace the TV before too long but many other people will have it for 10 years.

Don't pass up a better TV for any gimmicks. But if you find the one you want and it has extra features... go for it.

ROFL you guys. Ive had a Toshiba 46 inch flat screen for 4 years now and it runs youtube, amazon, and netflix. I don't know about it being a smart tv though. There are some decent flat screens out their for cheap money, especially right now, because of the tax return season.

well I the one I had was a smart tv I liked it cause I could stream Netflix and get my youtube fix at odd hours of the mornings without getting outta bed. that and I don't have cable I just used Netflix on the tv for my show watching. ive heard chromecast tossed around but don't know much of what it is or actually does other than put it in the tv. im lookin most bang for buck here guess I could research the chromecast a lil more and find out

so from what I gather u use phone or tab to control the chromecast all together which is fine. just as long as whatever its plugged into has HDMI am I reading that correctly?

Chromecast is like $35ish HDMI stick. It connects to your wi-fi and turns your TV into a smart tv. with the Chromecast taking care of all the smart aspects instead of the TV doing it. It is if your TV is running android essentially. You get access to almost any app a smart tv normally has and also stuff from the Google play market as well.

Chromecast is amazing. Run youtube and netflix from your tablet, smart phone. Twitch from your PC.

Combine that with Plex Media Server and almost anything you have downloaded you can watch.

Chromecast changed my life for the better.

ok so I think im sold on the chromecast so tv ideas? id like 32 or bigger

I have sold TVs for the past 3 years. Samsungs can be hit or miss. Sony's you can almost never go wrong for quality but you will have a higher price point. Panasonic LEDs are very good but the thin ones can tend to run very hot around the edges so you need to watch it. They are going to be leaving the market directly soon. But Toshiba is a good value brand that gives your good quality for the prices that you pay.

I am a personal fan of LG and I swear by them. I have had LG products for years and I love them.

But As I would tell customers who ask me. Alot of it is personal preference. Take a brand that you like and have had good experiences with and then find a picture and features that you like. But if you want to give me a price range, I can recommend some stuff for you. However right now we are in the switch between 2014 to 2015. So most of the new models are not out just yet. And only just are being put into the market at the end of the month and will keep coming until about april/may.

I love Samsung and Toshiba. Always had good luck. 42" and 46" is about as big as I like to go. Some good deals out there. I do not buy TV's and Monitors on-line, cause I don't like the idea of them bouncing around the back of the truck. Not to mention the pissed of UPS guys who like to punt, kick, and body slam the shit in the back of the truck.

@SgtKokuei im trying to stay in the 350 range 32" or bigger been lookin at some Samsung lgs and vizios still not sure what ill be grabbing so if ya got some ideas thatd be awesome and howling I live in po dunk so I order everything online cause it would take me longer to get to a store than to have it shipped

They've already been trucked twice and bounced around by warehouse guys and store employees before they end up on the store floor. All in all it's about the same but returns are easier at brick and mortar stores.
