As I continue to hammer on with our move from vBulletin to Xenforo every well known forum making the jump with us gets me excited. vBulletin was once king and IP Board was runner up. As decent the free options out there are I still laugh at some sites using them. vBulletin has been run into the ground and the developers responsible for what was good about vBulletin quit and formed Xenforo.
I think most of us have read atleast one review from www.TechPowerUp.com, personally I have never been in their forum. Not exactly a big site I mean when IGN switched to Xenforo that was a big sign of where things are going. They were actually large enough to show the weaknesses in the early builds of Xenforo. Such as thread performance with more than 10,000 posts in a single thread... lol
I am not familiar with the se7ensins gaming community but they are one of the biggest known gaming sites below IGN to be on Xenforo with over 6 million posts and 450,000 registered users. The industry felt a nice tremor when SEO expert digitalpoint switched his forums over to Xenforo after having tested it against vB 5 and IP.Board.
If you wonder why they didn't move up to and hang out on 4.2 for awhile its the same reason even vBulletins own modification site is still on 3.6 too much work for no real reason. 3.6 was supposed to be the last 3.x until the owners decided to send the company on a path to self destruction.W1zzard said:After 9 years on vBulletin (up to 3.8.x), we decided it was time to upgrade our forums.
With vBulletin 5 being an epic failure and XenForo 1.2 available the choice was easy enough.
