This was one reformat day of hell that was actually worth it.

I typically build an install image for my computers and update that image once a year. I like to keep things fresh and its a good time to update a BIOS and have a clean install with all the latest drivers. Anything ever goes wrong and I can have the machine back up in an hour with pretty recent install of things. But sadly for my 1 year old gaming desktop I still dont own a copy of windows for it yet. My latest 120 trial... lol is up.

ASUS AI Suite hasn't worked on this computer since probably the first time I ever installed windows on it. Kinda sucks for the lack of working fan speed control and other features.

So after my BIOS update I decided lets try Windows 7 release to manufacture and see if Ai Suite will install, well hell windows wouldnt even install. Turns out the Intel RST oprom was updated in this BIOS update and the drivers on SP0 are too old. Back to the old bios we go windows installed. Ai Suite wouldnt install... whatever nightmare over. No first windows update round kills windows update and SP1 wont manually install...

New BIOS again, Windows 7 SP1, All good so far. Ethernet driver doesnt even show an install button WHAT THE FUCK... oh well shits and giggles, ASUS Ai Suite... holy fuck it installed. Grab my phone download the latest Intel Ethernet driver from Intel instead of ASUS... thats working now...

Reformat day is usually easy, I install windows the ethernet driver and team viewer, I go to work and while idiots roll through the drive through I tap away at my phone installing, downloading and copying files back over. No real time wasted. This time i wasted a fuck ton of time but somehow... it was worth it just for Ai Suite to be back.

I was about to swear off ASUS lol

Your shit was red wasnt it, mine is blue make sure its the same I kid on that but no seriously there are several versions and there have been several updates.

Its not great but speed fan does not work on my board. Nice to have overclocking control in the OS to perform minor tweaks between reboots.
