So just a funny note on GPUs being launched, the Titan Z has been cancelled. I didnt see much about it but being $3000 and issues with specs I guess we wont see this bad boy hitting the market.

Oh well. Another card I would have never bought.

I've read that article and no where does it say it's cancelled. The only info I can find on it relates to nVidia vowing to have something out in the coming months. I'm not surprised this happened but at the same time, I don't think that thread is titled correctly, if at all.

If anything, they are merely trying to find a justification in charging folks the $3K pricetag. Maxwell won't be coming out for the GTX 8XX series until late Q4 or 2015 Q1 at the earliest as they are still working on the engineering samples.

Yea Im sorry if you have to justify shoving $3000 gpu down someones throat I dont see it worth pursuing. Just a quote from the site,

From the revenue stand-point, the GeForce GTX Titan Z is hardly important for Nvidia and its investors. Given the extreme price of the dual-chip flagship, it is unlikely that Nvidia can sell a lot of such graphics boards. In fact, even if Nvidia manages to sell several thousands of the Titan Z graphics cards (not really likely), their value will only be a small fraction of Nvidia’s total GPU sales (nearly $900 million in Q1 FY2015

Again if its going to make them money theres a slim chance of it being released so yea its cancelled. The only reason to release is for image of being the leading gpu provider. I honestly think they would hold off on the titan z and invest in the GTX 8xx series.

What do you guys think if they were to drop the price to match the R9 295x2 would you consider buying one?

I do agree with you to some point that it may be vaporware soon, but at the same time, there are a few folks that would buy it due to the rarity and uniqueness of the Titan Z. If I had tons of money and no sense, I would buy it purely from a collector standpoint, right along with the old school Voodoo dual GPU cards and the Asus MARS editions. The card is simply made to appeal to those who have no idea about price/performance or to get the fanbois drooling. It is somewhat important to the company PR wise as it does impact their investor's return. Nvidia does not want to come in second to a GPU that is half the price so they are scrambling to get as much performance out of it to save face or beat the 295x2.

Coming from a guy who used to get the dual GPU boards, even if it was priced at that level, I wouldn't get it. Half the time, games do not take advantage of sli or have crappy drivers that either force you to play with disabled options or shitty frame rate. I had a terrible time just trying to get my 6990 to work with BF4 without it crashing. Unless you're planning to play at 4k resolution all the time or are going to use it for rendering, it's not going to be worth it. And even you're trying to justify it from the rendering point of view, there are way better options.
