i currently run the i5 3570 k and i get a bout 100 fps with that processor, gtx 680, sabertooth z77, 16 gigs corsair vengeance ram ddr3, a corsair cx 750,creative recon blaster, live gamer hd, and a 2 tb hd. should i go up to a i7 or get a amd bulldozer?
i would upgrade my motherboard since it would b intel to amd if i go the amd way. the reason idk what to do is that i heard Intel is more reliable but then i hear amd is better for gaming so ya help!!!
and the reason for the upgrade is that i want 144 fps so i can use my monitor at its full penitential
THNKS!

Honestly, i run the same setup as you do (minus the gtx680, i have an AMD 6990) and there is really no reason to upgrade or switch over to AMD. The new chips that are coming online in the next few months from intel are going to be socket 1150, so it would be updating your mobo and your processor (honestly, there is no reason to unless you like to upgrade every year or so.) AMD does have price per performance, but they can barely compete head to head with your 3570K.

And in reality, you won't be able to tell the difference between 100 and 144fps as anything above 60fps is almost undetectable to the human eye. To get to that point of running 144fps, you would need to either do a an SLi or Tri-SLi setup which the gains are not really worth the price. That's just my 2 cents though.

For what it's worth, I'm getting above 100fps with my 6990 at medium settings, if you're getting 100fps your single gtx680, then I would wait.

The Intel Haswell chip will be launched June 3, from all reports, but you will not see more than a handful of fps increase from the previews I've seen while gaming. Right now most of the game performance is dependent on the GPU, not the CPU. So you might look at the GTX 780 which is launching on May 23rd, next week. Other than that, you'd need 2 or more gpus to make a difference and for games like BF3, they don't play nice with multiple cards. You'll get a little boost in frames per second, but it also introduces more micro-stutters so that negates the increased FPS you get by running multiple cards.

Amd used to have the edge when it came to gaming. That has been many many years ago though sadly. Their focus has moved from performance to budget. the 2nd gen i5 and i7 are both better than any amd cpu out there right now. I still run ati graphics as i still pull a solid 120 fps on max on bf3 with v sync on. I may be looking at switching to nvidia but only when games come out that i cant run.

On a side note ill have to check out the new nvidia card coming out.

It gets progressively harder to tell the higher the FPS goes, so it's kind of diminishing returns.

AMD has unfortunately sucked Intel's ass at the high end for about 5 years now, reversing the suckage that Intel used to perform until the i-series (about the time after Pentium 4). I don't know or care about price/performance ratios for gaming anyway.

I5-3570k sounds pretty fucking good already, just overclock it reasonably high and you should be good. Buying a CPU to get from 100fps to 120fps hardly seems worth it to me. Your money though, just look up the latest CPU review at legitreviews or guru3d or hardocp or something, and pick the one that is the best clock-for-clock and then overclock the shit out of it on water if you have money to burn :-) . Or hire a couple of slaves on shifts to pour LN2 24/7 on it - as an added bonus that is also literally the quietest setup you can ever get.
