Need some opinions on what you would upgrade if you were in my shoes. My main focus was going to be the power supply and video card.

Here are the specs of my current PC
Asus Essentio CG5290-BP007
Power Supply 500 Watts
CPU 2.67GHz Intel Core i7 920 (clocked at 2.93)
Motherboard chipset Intel X58
Memory 9GB 1,066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
Graphics 896MB Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 (216 core)
Hard drives 1TB 7,200rpm
Optical drive Dual-layer DVD burner
Networking Gigabit Ethernet
Operating system Windows 7 - 64 Bit

You are limited by the motherboard. What is the exact model of the motherboard?

I might be possible that you could run faster memory and video card.
If a good video card can be used on your computer then you could get a Corsair 850 watt power supply.

Step 1 video card & PSU
Step 2 CPU + MOBO upgrade
Step 3 RAM upgrade (speed, 8GB is fine).

This is pretty much what my plan was. Your system seems to be pretty appealing as far as price goes. How well does it perform? What would you buy differently now if you were starting from scratch?

I probably would have gone with the Ivy Bridge i7, instead of i5. (I still would, not enough benefit to haswell in my opinion for the extra price).
I might have spent the extra money on a Asus Sabertooth instead of this asrock. I don't have a problem with my Asrock, but the Sabertooth are just that good. Only other thing to consider is getting the 4GB version of the GTX 770, while I only have the 2GB. It hasn't been an issue yet, but you are pretty well future proofed if you get the 4GB.

I was already looking at the 4gb 770 since it's only about $60 more than the 2gb, and I'm glad to hear it will give me some longevity. I'm pretty sure I will go i7 4770K unless I can find a good deal on a ivy series. For the motherboard I was looking at an ASUS A87 Pro, but for just a little more it looks like I can get the Sabertooth. I'm getting a 240GB Sata III SSD for my primary HD with a 1TB 10K for data and 8GB of RipJaw for memory. 850W Pro Corsair for power.

Appreciate the input.

When you do the CPU and MB be sure to upgrade the memory too. If I'm not mistaken, DDR3 2133 will run just fine in either the Asus Pro or the Sabertooth. There is a noticeable difference between that and 1600mhz or below. When looking at the SSD, be sure to check out Samsung EVOs the price and performance on these is the best out there by far.
