US soldier released by Taliban

They know exactly where these guys are. I believe they are in some detention place in Qatar...for now

I suspect they did the trading to get Intel from the guy released.

They're not in detention areas. They are free to roam the entire country of Qatar. They only have a year travel ban. They can still run operations from inside the country though.

And considering the fact that Bergdahl was a collaborator, and now apparently may have also renounced his citizenship, why would he give any intel to the US willingly?

He was released for one reason and one reason only, they needed to get the VA scandal out of the news. However, as usual, they are supremely tone def to what will become public and what the public will think of it. Senator Chambliss of the intelligence committee said all these statements from people who served with Bergdahl weren't even in the DOD's internal classified report of what happened with Bergdahl, across the board it's either gross incompetence or a deliberate political move. Neither is good, and likely we are looking at both. How could they possibly think having his father standing next to the President speaking Pashtu wearing a Talibeard?

Title should be changed: "US Now Negotiates with Terrorists" Eric Holder doesn't even have a passing interest in the Constitution.

I still think its total shit that we trade 5 terrorists for a soldier that walked off of his post. Now every soldier still in Iraq or Afghanistan or any American tourist who goes there is at high risk of being captured just so the Taliban will get more of their guys back. I just know this will backfire very badly for us.

Most of us may not know exactly what he did or what was in his head, but that is part of the problem in today's society. NO ACCOUNTABILITY!!! He needs to and will be prosecuted under military law. His rank will be reduced and he will be either be put in the brig or dishonorably discharged. If this is a "war" then hopefully he will be put in brig or maybe even death. He deserted his unit purposely. He knew exactly what he was doing. Even if you are a regular soldier you know what the military is about, that is all you train for. This isn't some surprise. BY HE WAS NOT A REGULAR SOLDIER, he was Special Forces. Where they train harder and are trained to kill. By deserting his fellow soldiers he put himself in danger, but also put his fellow soldiers in danger and many of them died because of it.
As far as debriefing goes, my guess is that we will not get much out of him. More than likely the enemy got more out of him. Is it just me or does every picture and video of this guy, NOT HAVE A LOOK of someone that regrets what he did, or does it look like someone who was content with his decision and he was being treated humanly. Every other time that I have seen an American "Prisoner of War" they have had some sort of look of terror, some type of a sign or torture or maybe even starvation.

He wasn't special forces. He was Airborne Infantry.

The dirtbags from Gitmo aren't even POW's, our Afghanistan opponents don't even qualify technically for the Geneva Convention.
