Its been awhile since Ive looked at video cards. I don't plan on buying one any time soon but I would like to know the difference between the specs before I start looking. I just picked 3 similar Nvidia cards that were reasonably priced and wanted to see what the difference in specs were between them.

Core Clock ...................882MHz..........675MHz.....650MHz
Shader Clock.................1764MHz........1350MHz....1300MHz
Stream Processors.........192................336...........288
Effective Memory Clock..3800MHz.........3600MHz...3400MHz
Memory Size.................1GB................768MB......1GB

I have no idea what is more important between the above specs.

Whats more important
Core Clock vs Stream Processors
Memory Speed vs Size

Where do you compromise and what are you really looking for. This would be easy if one of these cards had specs that were higher in every category but it never seems to work that way. You always have to have a trade off.

Right now I'm running a 7800 and playing BC2. I'm having serious issues that makes the game unplayable for most of the time. I would like to be a bit more educated when I buy my next card in the future. I've look around for the answers but what I found was way too complex for me to understand so if you break it down for a dumb Infantry guy that would be great.

Moses, The big thing is streaming processors, along with Core Clock and Memory :).

Get yourself a 5770 or 5850.

5770 is cheap today and it will run any new game on high settings for the next 3-4 years
