Would be amazing if we launched one today it would have instruments from the 1990's that could do so much more. Because you know a prerequisite for sending shit into space these days is being proven (meaning old and not used in anything for 10 years) and simple enough that we can cheap out on radiation hardening! Only to have it catastrophically fail after launch and then be used well past its expiration date despite this.

Damn things simplicity is probably the only reason it still works though.
