In our house we have a black Les Paul Standard, a Strat, a Telecaster, an early 1970's Alvarez 6 string acoustic, and a Harmony Rocket that looks like an ES335.

I mainly use my American strat--there have been a couple of times I almost dropped 2+ grand on a les paul but I have NEVER, EVER played one that stayed in tune. They usually have good tone, sustain, and they are ridiculously easy to bend but any time you touch those strings it just immediately goes out. I can't spend that much on an instrument that can't stay in tune for more than 5 seconds. A couple friends of mine have them and nothing works to keep them from going out. Pro setup, graphite nut, nut lube (heh heh) nothing works. Strat it is! Although the tone on some tele's are just superb

I hope my parents haven't sold it, after my first Yamaha, a neighbor gifted me a 1979 Ovation Preacher solidbody electric guitar. That thing was gorgeous and sounded amazing. I put it in the attic before enlisting in 2005 and haven't seen it since. Might be time for a trip to see my parents.

Always loved the look of the Ovation back then. My best bud had an Ibanez CN-250, which was also a sweet guitar. If I remember right, you could get modules to change the sound, kind of like using pedals.
