Which of our members and server regualars are in afghanistan?

I'm trying to get a contract out there and was curious of who to look for?

I've got a friend from the army out there, and he's trying to get me picked up with ITT. The mound of paperwork is unreal just see if I'm qualified. SO it's a long shot as of right now, but I'm definetly doing what I can. I'm also excited cause this would be the first real damn job I've had since March 2010. I mean homedepot is not a bad place to work, but the pay is terrible. LOL

What kind of job you looking for, i just got back from over there.

I'm actually in the process of recriutment with ITT now. In the event that I make there, I was just wondering who I could possibly run into. :)

ahh ok, well good luck to you if you get it.....lots of bs over there so be watchful of what you say and do.

And always remember, the civilian companies dont tend to treat their people anywhere near as well as the military. So get that mindset out of your head. Don't go getting yourself hurt going the extra mile for them cuz they will turn their back on you in an instant. My buddy got his legs blown nearly off (had em amputated a year later) and his company, Dyncorp, left him out to dry. They refused his insurance claim saying he was in an area he wasn't trained for, even though he had been ordered against his will to go there(he had a contract that would only keep him in one base with his wife). He's still involved in lawsuits with them.

Be very careful there buddy, contractors are out on your own, if you get into some shit, which you might or will (depending on what you are doing) Don't expect the military to come save the day, they sometimes do, but only when in certain circumstances, bot's right dude, they will leave you hanging if shit goes south. A guy I went to SERE School with was a MD530 (little bird) pilot who got shot down in Iraq in 2006 when he was flying for black-water; he had to run for his life literally, unfortunately he was the only dude who made it out of the crash, the 4 other dudes with him weren't as fortunate. Not trying to scare you, just know what you are getting into first.

Thanks, I have weighted the some scenarios like that. The best thing is to do for me is just do my research about the area where I'll be at. Fortunately I'm working in the Tech control facility. Going to be interesting for sure. I'm hoping the next year will definetly turn my career around.

And bot, I hope nothing happens to me period, but if I was to get injured I would hope my company doesn't pull some bullshit. I've seen the treatment first hand on how they treat civilians. It's a shame cause some civilians are not " in the way". Yes they are paid more, but there's more responsibility on them to make things work. When I was in the army and I was working in a tech control facility, they pulled my entire company out of it to do another mission. the whole facility was left up to TWO civilians to manage the 24/7 comminucations. but, yet those same guys couldn't get a ride to another base to get supplies for living. my buddy pretty much said to pack light, cause things can change in just a few hours.

Thanks for words of ensight, this going to be an expierence for sure.
