I want to be able to record matches in TWL, but when I have play claw running it causes delay or stuttering.

Running I7 3770 , 16G ram, only a GTX560 .

Could the graphics card be an issue?

Should i designate a core to playclaw?

Im recording onto a secondary drive, could that be the issue?

During gameplay, the recordings are fine.

Are you recording to an SSD? My Q9550/GTX480 runs smooth as butter when recording to my SSD.

Recording to a Bulk 4 TB drive, not a SSD... i do so much video work that i cant put it on my SSD lol....

Mabey ill free up some room to try to record to my main drive then xfer over.

And the graphics card is the issue as well your thinking?

Waflz I HAD almost the exact same issue with almost the exact same setup. I'm running an i7 2700k which is the last gen of the same proc you have, a GTX560, 16Gigs of RAM all that shit is almost identical to your setup. I would run the game at 55-75 fps but when I hit record on FRAPS my fps would drop to 15-35 and my video would stutter. I fixed it though and no longer have that issue, my fps drops to 35-50 when recording now and not a stutter to be found. The fix? I was also recording to a secondary hard drive, a 7200 rpm 1TB western digital. The solution? An SSD, I started recording to an SSD and my frame rate went up 20 and my game play while recording smoothed right out. I'm telling you, that is the problem no question whatsoever. If you have an SSD set it as the destination directory for your FRAPS and play a round our two you will see for yourself. I just transfer now from my SSD to my secondary after I have finished playing or when I run out of room.

Ok, perfect ill give it a shot.

Gah ... i hate putting garbage video files on my ssd...

Buy any SSD, especially one with good write performance. I have an OCZ Agility 4 512GB if you'd like to buy it. $300 shipped.

Did some recording on my main SSD , did not effect game play. I think i may do what you suggestion Renno , buy a smaller temp SSD to load primary video files on.

Would be recommendable. I however do record to mechanical. I have 2 320GB 7200 RPM 2.5 inch drives in Raid 0. Good for about 80 fps using Fraps. There are some better mechanicals out there to handle the load. But i also hate the thought of wasting good drives as temp storage. Go for an SSD just have a drive to dump to.

I would have to argue with Renno on the fact that there are horrible entry level SSD's. Any SSD is going to have better random performance than a mechanical. Thats the key reason they rock. But sequential write performance is key to recording. The problem with sequential write performance on a mechanical is to guarantee it you have to keep the drive empty. The one he linked looks good. Sometimes Newegg will post tested figures versus the manufacturer info. Keep an eye out for it. If you buy an SSD with only 90 MB/s sequential write performance don't be surprised, they do exist and under major names.
