kid called NHS and only knew his mum's name, if you knew only that here the emergency services would just hang up and leave you alone regarding it as a prank call.

triumph for gps technology.

Shit here if you dial 911 and don't say anything they will call you back and leave you a message that goes a little like this "If you mean't to dial 911 please call again, if you were murdered we do have your location but we won't come looking for you". Just a funny moment from when cell phones where invented and holding 9 called 911.

When I was a kid I was always amused calling from a landline (not very many cells then) they would ask you for your address but the computer was already showing it and they made no real attempt to help a kid out until after he failed to get it out.

But yeah on cell phone GPS for emergency services is one of the great things put into service by man. Dunno where some people would be without it. Ive gone into severe storms without my cell and my mother is always like well what if something happened. I was like well I would make like it was 1989 lol.

I thought it was 112 in the UK... wat.

It was 999 in the UK first. 112 was brought into effect with the whole EU thing.

But no worries mate its now 0118 999 88199 9119 725 3
