I'm torn between windows 8 or windows 7. Windows 8 is new and will support all new technology. Windows 8 also has a better support for SSD also. But Windows 7 is more reliable and trusted. I don't mind being a first adopter of tech and would like to get windows 8 especially when they are coming out with a service patch to fix all that was wrong with the initial release. Here is what im planning on buying. Keep in mind im taking recommendations from tomshardware.com and I'm AMD brand loyal. build.jpg

Ahh! The Pro's and Cons of Windows. TBH at this stage I'm content with 7 for another year or so. I've played around with some 8 machines and while it does have it's "features" I like the feel of 7 better. Maybe it's because I've been fixing them for a few years now. I'm comfortable moving things around. Permissions is still an issue in 7 though. Support for SSD's? Never had an issue with Win 7 yet. What is the issue you're having or were having?

I've found that Windows 8 has much faster boot time and I tend to get slightly better performance with games. I'm currently running win7 on my desktop (raid 0 SSDs) and 8 on my gaming laptop (single SSD). The main reason I haven't switched to 8 is because the multi monitor can be kind of annoying without some 3rd party software. I'm also way more comfortable, like Bob, with 7.

Regarding your build, you will want to consider getting a 2nd SSD, as you will fill up that 128 in no time. Also, make sure you have a secondary standard drive that can be used for your media, older games, and anything that does a lot of reading/writing (example, I keep dropbox folders on my non SDD drive).

Good choice with the samsung ssd though. My 830's have been awesome.

I can hardly read your build list. Can you upload a full-res version elsewhere (imgur or something)?

Anyways, general critiques...

1) What graphics card do you plan to run? Also, what RAM? And can you state what PSU that is? Finally, what CPU cooler? (If you're running stock, you'll probably only need to mount it once--at least until you replace the CPU--which, nowadays, is unlikely).
2) Are you sure you want an AMD setup? Intel's chips perform better with a dedicated graphics card.

The only thing that windows 8 supports is monkeyboy's shitty leadership in MS. As long as that crusted asscrack is leading the development of Windows, it'll be a shit after a shit. I can only hope that he disappears, one way or another, before the win7 EOL.

I have Windows 8 on my brand new build and have had zero issues except for the fact that the wireless network card I bought had compatibility issues, so I just left it out and run a wired connection. The thing I like about 8 is it is very easy to get used to, plus you have the option to run it in a traditional desktop mode, as opposed to their new "App Slider".

Oh and just a hint bro, ditch newegg, it's garbage. Price your builds at NCIX.com and tell me who's better :P AND NCIX does a price match, so even if one or two items at newegg are cheaper, NCIX will match it.

Ditch the internet altogether its too expensive, buy at microcenter jk. So glad they built one here.

I know I am in the minority, but I like Windows 8. It does take some getting used to, but when you do it makes sense and everything is there that you are used to but is simply presented differently. The big thing I like is the live tiles; I spend a lot of time doing work at my desktop in regards to managing household stuff, my wife's work/travel schedule, and financial things and having that information pop through on one monitor while I am working on another really is helpful to me. And I do not know if this is valid for you, but the ability to set up a kids account that you assign permissions to is a wonderful addition for me as each of my kids has an account on the computers and I can see their activity, set permissions, and, since they all share three computers, there desktop is customized via their login -- no matter the computer, once you login the preferences and presentation are the same. It does boot faster and run slightly better with games, but there are some compatibility issues.
