Based on the advice given by so many others in another thread, I've decided to start looking in to Windows 7. Well, it must be that ol' Billy likes to help college students because students can buy Windows 7 for $64.95 USD.

This makes it a hell of lot more inviting me for me to check it out. And Vengeance, this might help you quite a bit as you put that new system together. I'm still gonna help ya out, too. But I just had to share this with everyone...

In the same vein, if you're in the military you can get Office 2010 Professional Plus (Access, Excel, InfoPath Designer, InfoPath Filler, One Note, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint Workspace, and Word) for $9.95 downloaded, or $21.95 for the download and backup disc. It's available through the Home Use Program (HUP).

Sorry to hijack your thread a little Crypt :)

While I'm at it, here's a few other places students can get software very cheap...

* Academic Superstore *

JourneyEd.com

CCVSoftware.com

Gradware

sprysoft.com

SchoolWorld

The first place, Academic Superstore is my favorite...

Adobe Creative Suite 5 Web Premium Which is:

  • Dreamweaver CS5
  • Flash Professional CS5
  • Fireworks CS5
  • Flash Builder 4
  • Flash Catalyst CS5
  • Illustrator CS5
  • Photoshop CS5 Extended
  • Contribute CS5
  • Acrobat 9 Pro
  • Adobe Bridge CS5
  • Adobe Device Central CS5

All for just $395... Regular price: $1,799

wOOt!

Full OEM version of Win7 64-Bit is $99 on NewEgg, fuck that Student Edition shit.

Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - Operating Systems

Oh and Zappy they didn't renew the MS HUP. They have to save money somehow. It looks like it's still up until you actually try and order then it tells you the contract was not renewed. It ended March 31st, 2009.

I agree for the price difference I would just buy full OEM and be done with it.

I ordered one last week for Sgtdeadred. An email came down from our base computer nerds (via our squadron) a month or so ago saying it was turned back on for a time, not sure how long it will last though.

Shit, I should check with my brother about software. At the university he teaches at he gets Office 2010 for $12.00 if I remember correctly.
