So I installed the Windows 8 beta or whatever they call it. Its pretty interesting with the new start menu setup. Also, like some people rumored about 8, that the desktop was gone as you knew it; not true. The desktop hasn't changed. Its the Start Menu that has changed. I have no complaints as of yet, but who knows as I play around with it some more.

It seems to me like windows 8 is just a mesh of their mobile OS and 7. I haven't played much with it either but I like it so far.

That rumor ended when they publicly agreed not to kill it off. However last I checked the start menu orb is gone. I NEVER use the windows key on a keyboard and I am not about to wait for the touch icon on the right to appear.

Microsoft is nearly content with killing off windows. They have only kept certain things after several hundred thousand complaints from developers, etc.

RainMotorsports, I do dislike the lack of a startmenu button. I dont like having to hover over the spot where it use to be to wait for the new startmenu to pop up so you can click it.

Freedomefires13, yep yep, it is for sure a mash up of their phone OS and 7. It does run smoothly though. No hardware issues, or software issues either.

Still have it installed. I don't know about keeping it though. Here is a small video I took of Win 8. Just shows how it works a bit:

Well, all in all its a decent OS. Microsoft managed not to ship another ME/Vista to the market. I dislike the lack of a start menu button though. Its a neat concept, but Microsoft didn't need to release a whole new OS so soon. Stick with 7 is my opinion.

I do suggest you check out 8 though, just to play around with it. It installed itself to my C: automatically instead of the partition I made for it on my other HDD. There is an option to make an install disc, and that may let you put it on the HDD/Partition of your choice.

Installed. I think after a few minutes of using it it seems like a somewhat refreshing new take on windows, compared to the Vista / 7 twins.

Yeah. My impression is that it is a good OS, but it is not needed so soon. 7 is fine.
