Alright we got to start figuring out my end of year machine.

I will definitly send you a message when i get home in 4 hours malsor. I think the only point that might hurt is shipping but we will see.

I feel like im not seeing something sids popst is an asterik and chivos is blank. Anyways i will know by tuesday but it appears i might be able to swing 750 bucks by the end of next month! Edit my math was off by two weeks do more like 600 by the end of may 750 by two weeks later. Reality is im gonna have to spend it on something lol.

I would wait Rain. When the new stuff comes out in a few months the stuff were looking at now will be dirt cheap.

Meh no point in waiting. If i am waiting I am waiting for Intel's Ivy Bridge, Im waiting for Windows 8. Im being serious. I wait I dont get to play new games, I stop gaming, I see you guys later lol.
There is no set date on picking up the machine but it might happen soon enough. Anything should murder my current rig, and Graphics cards can always be upgraded later.

As i was telling sixer the idea that I might not have a gaming worthy net connection in a year from now is enough to say fuck it dont build a machine. The main reason I made this thread is i didn't think I was going to be able to build a machine for 600 bucks. I did a search and it looks like I can so now the plan changed a little. I will definitely be adding hard drives and a bluray burner other things later.

I never bought this gaming laptop, for gaming. I bought it because it was cheaper and more powerful than any of the other brands could offer.

I just wanna say its taken me almost two months to convince myself to actually buy a desktop... thats how bad this is for me mentally. Im not good with waiting, or money :p

I would wait like I should have when I was putting my computer together. About month after I bought my CPU(AMD 965 quad-core) the 1050 came out.

I should say I have been waiting 2 years for a new machine and I have a few games I can not play at all. Sorry but im done waiting. I waited for a better core 2 quad mobile, never happened so i waited for i7 mobile, came and went. I waited for Sandy Bridge its here and now i was waiting for ivy bridge. Not to mention im awaiting the 7000M and 600M series gpu's respectively along with windows 8.

I also doubt anything extraordinary is coming out from AMD that is fully AM3 compatible. We already know whats coming from intel and its not going to be an affordable ivy bridge i7 or a hexacore i5 so...

I appreciate the advice so far, sorry to sound like a jack ass but since its clear that waiting = not building it any other advice. Im trying to grab these cards off malsor but i think the exchange rate might be a problem we will see. Once I buy the cards there is NO turning back.

I think im gonna do another build soon too. Cept this one is gonna be a file server:D

Thats gonna be my next task, figuring out how to keep my files accessible by both machines. If i throw a a 1TB in the laptops second bay I will probably keep it on 24/7 to act as a file server so I can just grab it and go.

I don't know much about honest to goodness fileservers cuz ive been so used to building bad ass gaming machines. But my last HTPC build as broadened my horizons a bit in building a PC to suit a specific task. This buyer's guide had a lot of info to get you started on building a fileserver for streaming and such. It's way at the bottom past all the HTPC stuff.

I personally love task-specific computers. I run my main file storage on a different box. So long as you have a gigabit network, it works pretty darn well with a some cheap Samsung 2TB drives.

My MSI board for phenom X2 works like a charm. I would recommend it if you are going with AMD
