So now when I play BF2142 on my new system I have realized that while playing everything is very BASSY, like very low and deep sounds especially vehicles. Is it that I was playing so low end the past few years that I am now just "hearing" this game the actual way I should have been hearing it or is there something I can do to tone it down?

I think it's just that you're finally hearing what the game is like but you should be able to adjust the bass in your audio settings. Do you have onboard sound or an actual soundcard?

I didn't see what you ended up getting for a pc.

I ended up with an ASUS system. My laptop was an ASUS and it has treated my well the last few years. As far as the sound it's on board and there are no knobs as I play with a headset. I did adjust the bass settings in settings, but it still seems "bassy".

ASUS CG5290 is what I got

Intel Core i7 I7-920 / 2.66 GHz Quad Core
9GB ram DDR3
1 TB - Standard - Serial ATA - 7200 rpm
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260

I played BFBC2 on it this afternoon ....fuckin amazing and BF2142 is so much more defined...oh ya and I got an ASUS 24inch widescreen monitor as well :D

9 GB of RAM? Jeez, are you running a rendering farm? Damn!!!

lol @ Jesus, ya I thought it was a typo when I saw it and he was like nah man it really does have 9, I was like talk about fuckin overkill

We really need to know what is controlling the sound? Windows or the sound card software? Windows 7 does not have bass and treble settings.

Soundmax Audio Settings is where I was adjusting the bass

Soundmax Integrated Digital HD Audio is what is on board

just pole a bunch of tiny holes in the speakers, that makes them vented. :X

Windows 7 & Audio = FAIL; SoundMAX is probably the worst audio on the market, good luck

I tried the SoundMax with my old motherboard and it was horrible in 2142 with TeamSpeak. I ended up just disbling it and going with an X-Fi Xtreme Gamer. I didn't even fuck with it on the new motherboard. I went straight to a Fata1ty Pro.

I think it may be that I am finally hearing and seeing this game as it should be. Instead of all the medium to low settings unwashed playing on my laptop. I did mess with the volume controls some
more and they have seem to helped.
