Eh, why not.

My main hobby is computer hardware. My secondary hobby is audio. I'd love to say that I loved music and then acquired my audio system, but it's more that I acquired my audio system and then built my music collection. I have another, larger, pair of loudspeakers and a pile of other budget audio equipment.

Since I like growing my E-Peen as much as the next nerd, I should perhaps tell you all about it. If you've gotten this far, you're either hitting the Back button or you're reading on. Regardless, if this is boring, it's not my fault so much as yours.

Computer #1; my main PC.
Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 3.3GHz, cooled by a CM Hyper 212+
6GB RAM; A-DATA Vitesta Extreme Edition 2x2GB DDR2-800 CL4 6 Wintec AMPX 2x1GB DDR2-800 CL5
XFX Radeon HD 5850-1GB
Abit IP35-E motherboard
XFX 650W (XXX Edition) PSU
WD Caviar SE16 320GB (with Windows 7 Pro x64 and all my games & programs)
WD Caviar Black 1TB (with almost my porn, random files, and a little bit of music)
WD Raptor 150GB (a scratch-disk)
WD Raptor 150GB (unused)

Computer #2: my current server.
Pentium D 805, cooled by a CM Hyper 101 for Intel
1GB RAM; two mismatched 512MB DDR1-333 sticks (the board doesn't support dual-channel RAM)
Diamond Radeon HD 3850-256MB
Intel D101GGC mobo
OCZ StealthXStream 500W PSU (a cheap and relatively crappy PSU)
Maxtor 8.4GB (with Windows XP Pro)
WD Caviar Blue 320GB (with the rest of my music and some random files)
**I'll be upgrading this whenever. I'm thinking of adding a pair of 2TB drives. Not tomorrow, but when I use a further 44GB.

Computer #3: just for the hell of it, my most dedicated cruncher.
Xeon X3210, cooled by a Scythe Mugen
1GB RAM; 2x512MB DDR2-400 sticks (I need to upgrade them sometime; I'm losing out on overclocking this gem of a quad-core processor)
S3 ViRGE 2MB (:spidey_dude:)
Corsair CX400 PSU
8GB USB flash drive (with Ubuntu 9.04 x64 on it)

Computer #3½: my EeePC 900
Celeron M-ULV 353, cooled by the keyboard tray
1GB DDR2-400 RAM, underclocked heavily
Intel GMA900 IGP
Worn-out battery
4GB SSD (with WinXP Pro x64 on it)
8GB SSD (with programs on it)
8GB SD card (which goes between my camera and the SD card slot)

I'll be on later to answer any questions, make any comments, and in general, erect a more accurate e-peen.

That's some serious hardware - nice setup.

I do have couple of questions though..

1. All that money and time devoted to gaming/audio... and you still have a 4th grade desk and chair? How the heck do you sit in that thing for any length of time and remain comfortable?

2. When is the last time you got laid?

lulz

Rim, he obviously likes being a hard ass and since when does internet porn not count as getting laid? Just kidding, except about the chair that thing looks painful. I can feel the splinters in my backside as I speak.

Damn those dorms! Hell, at least you've got room for a desk. I've seen some dorm rooms that seemed smaller than cells in the Federal Pen.

DeRamos your to funny. O ya and your looking good these day's ;p Not bad but let's see the in side. To tell you the truth. This is 98% of the clans hobby to. So what it comes down to is the quality of the work on the in side. My first build looked like a spaghetti factory blew up in it. My next step is case modding :) Here's a look at my rig's. You should go back in the tec section and look at the other guy's rig. Thay are bad ass!!! Soulzz you never posted pix of your new rig? http://www.tbgclan.com/f15/my-rig-8163/

Too funny Greaper. Take a look at the amount of Bounty and tissues he has there. Also, is that a socks drawer? He's been busy!

Nice stuff by the way! What are your main audio speakers? I am a audiophile myself.

LOL!!! @Mega I was thinking the same thing but held back for the first time.

The last pix was NICE and clean just the way I like it!!! Good job man.
I think your chips heat sink is in the wrong position. It should be east to west not south to north. Unless thats the only way it fits.

The last two are of the nearly-most-current rendition. I removed the optical drive (which was actually disconnected) and am now using my old white/silver external drive, since I ran out of SATA ports. My other computers are under the mattress and are both crunching away. All three run WorldCommunityGrid for XtremeSystems, while HD5850 and my old HD3850 run Milkyway@home. The CM Hyper 212+ works in either configuration. I have open vents up top so I have it blowing air North. I think it looks better how it is.

Distributed Computing Stats from Free-DC

My real main audio speakers are Polk SDA-1's. I'll be acquiring a McIntosh MC162 and C37 in a year or two from my Uncle... though I'm positively drooling over the upcoming McIntosh C48. New McIntosh power is too far expensive for me, but I definitely like current-gen (MC252) and prior-gen (MC162, MC202, MC352) power. My uncle already owns the transformer-output MC162 which should be a better match (a more difficult load, though) with my SDA-1's and I'll be paying him the trade-in value. That won't happen for a while; he's eying the MC252 and MC352 for his bigger Polk SRS 1.2TL's.

The current setup is as follows...
Loudspeakers: Polk Monitor 5 Series 2
Pre & Power: TEAC AG-H300mkIII (formerly: Sherwood AI-1110)
D/A Converter: Little Dot DAC_I
Source: My desktop, connected via Toslink and using Foobar2000 with ASIO4All
Server: Computer #2 (the Pentium D) connected on my LAN

For cables, I have short runs (<8') of #16 copper biwire and have bare-wire connections on both ends. I need to upgrade both the Monitor 5's and SDA-1's with new XO's and binding posts. For interconnects, I'm using some shielded Monster RCA cables--only 1m long cables.

As I said, I need to upgrade the Pentium D's storage so I can put more music and start moving over other files.

On a side-note, I'm looking at a Little Dot Mk.VII+ balanced headphone amp to add to my equipment stack. That, however, takes a back seat to new LCD monitors.

I've been eying refurb Dell UltraSharp 21.5" monitors--three in Portrait mode and with Eyefinity would be killer.
